Palin described thinking the Couric interview would be lighthearted and fun. "It was supposed to be ... a working mom speaking with [another] working mom and the challenges that we have with teenage daughters," she told "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in an interview broadcast Monday.

I know I'm going to get blasted for speaking against Palin but if she actually thought an interview with Couric was going to be "lighthearted and fun," she's not ready for prime time. Seriously, who on this board thought the Couric interview wasn't going to be an ambush?

She should have known better and the fact that she's using that as an excuse either paints her as untrustworthy by trying to gain sympathy or totally ignorant.

i thought that response was one of her weaker moments in the Oprah interview... and i don't know if she really thought it was going to be light-hearted and fun... i also thought her reason for not saying what she read (when the Perky One asked her what books and magazines she read) was also on the flimsy side...

Honcho, when one of the most trusted advisors of your new boss, who worked for Katie in the past, says she's set everything up with Katie and this will be a “wonderful opportunity,” do you go along, cautiously, or do you turn to your new boss and tell him to shove it while kicking the @ss of the trusted assistant?

Get freaking real and pull your head out.

She was just naive. I doubt that she had ever watched much of Couric on TV back in Alaska. I sure don’t watch Couric. Perky Katie had a rep as a lightweight morning happy talk host before she got bumped up to sit in Rather’s chair.

As Alaska’s governor, I seriously doubt that insider media buzz — the stuff people who frequent the inside the beltway cacktail parties talk about — was even on Sarah Palin’s radar screen.

It was the McCain campaign’s job to prepare Palin for a tought interview, not to sell the idea to her that it would be a softball game.
