West Virginia Sen. Robert C. Byrd became the longest-serving lawmaker in congressional history Wednesday, a milestone to be marked with a morning of Senate tributes and a special resolution.
It was unclear whether Byrd would be able to attend Wednesday's session.
(Excerpt) Read more at google.com ...
The person he passed was Carl Hayden who served from 1312 till 1969.
1912!
In his honor we should name the Constitutional Amendment for Congressional Term Limits as the Robert C. Byrd Constitutional Powers Realignment Act
Only Democrats would allow a former Ku Klux Klan Grand Kleagle to keep his seat for so long....the Dems would riot if a GOP was a former Klan member
Of course...the Dems are aligned with the new Ku Klux Klan groups....La Raza, SEIU, Southern Poverty Law Center...and others. Sen. Byrd should feel at home...and he won’t have to worry about them “white ni**ers”
one of Limbaugh’s funniest bits was when he read two lists, one was stuff in Iraq that was named after Saddam Hussein, and one was stuff in West Virginia that was named after Robert C. Byrd. The Byrd list was more than twice as long.
He was already the longest-serving former Ku Klux Klan member in the Senate.
Uhhhh. 657 years!
I think old man Byrd will hang on to beat that, just out of spite!
;->
KKK will burn a cross on the White House lawn in his honor....
If you go into the Army, or Navy, or Air Force, or Marines, etc., that's "service".
Going into Congress is no sacrifice - it's not "service", any more than a pig is "serving" when it's at the trough.
Never new CRAP like that would KEEP for so long!!
I think his office employees make all his decisions...I wish someone would just be honest and tell us how his ‘mental’ health really is....
This is a sad day. No, it’s not because of who he is or what party he’s in, but that people are praising the pinnacle of the exact opposite of the citizen-legislator that the Founders intended.
All hail the Imperial Grand Wizard. Free pillow cases for everyone.
Byrd, Thurmond, Kennedy . . .?
Who is actually making the legislative decisions?
Like the Dog walker in “In the Garden of Good and Evil”, keep electing ‘em to keep the gravy train going.
Term limits, term limits, term limits, term limits!
What model wheelchair is that?
He will be presented with a set of fresh sheets..
