Obama: Change You Can Believe In (Or Not!)

Oh but I am not buying it!

Even though I am a Republican, I still hope that Obama will change the culture in Washington. But I have to report in this area of Ambassadorships, Obama has turned into a Bush clone.

I have written previously about how Bush gave Ambassador posts as a reward (Bush once gave a posting to the CEO of Ameriquest Mortgage to the Netherlands after his company went out of business and was sued over 160 times for help causing the sub-prime meltdown) for raising money for him, and Obama seems to have forgotten his promise to change the culture in Washington DC in this area.

Here is my report on the latest Ambassadorships that have been given out thus far.

80 nominations or confirmations since January 2009. 56% have been given to political appointees. So who is getting the jobs?

Raed the entire list at the link...

I cannot believe that people actually believed this clown was going to be any different than the Washington establishment, of which he was a part! And Bush didn’t do us a lot of favors either, thanks to him we have the first Tarp, out of control spending, etc., etc. and John McCain!

During the election, Obama told us he would change America. The only thing he knew was Alynski, so guess what he is going to change it to. You ready for this? Better yet, are you going to allow him to do it?

Do you believe that Bush was the first to give Ambassador posts as a reward?

That practice probably goes back to the first president and could more accurately be called a tradition than anything else.

Besides, how powerful do you think the average Ambassador is?

There might be a few exceptions in history but the vast majority are like tourists.

A better complaint against Obama would be that he promised to put an end to Lobbyists. imo.

Not that I approve, mind you, but this is a disgusting article that displays monumental ignorance, or simply another juvenile shot at Bush.

For at least 100 years, ambassadorships have been plums handed out to political and financial supporters; that is a historical, verifiable fact.

Remember Joseph Kennedy, the Nazi supplier and supporter, was rewarded with appointment to the Court of St James.
The overwhelming number of foreign posts have been held by incompetents, crooks and opportunists. Of course, not all; some are too important to appoint a highly visible incompetent fool to.

Bottom line, what is this article supposed to contribute to informed citizens?

Lots of heat, and very little useful light.

For career diplomats, they are fuming about this practice. These folks get appointed to these posts and don’t even speak the language, by-passing many qualified diplomats that have spent years learning the customs and the people. Here is a quote from Susan Johnson, president of the American Foreign Service Association.

OK.
Having read the complete article at the link, I can react more confidently:

Sour Grapes. His political opponent outspent him

But there is more to this story, the fundamental institutionalized corruption and anti-American culture in the State Department.
To me, as enemies of the U.S.A. they are second only to al-Qaeda. Just think about who was apppointed as its head.

But it goes beyond that.

Most professional, career State Department dweebs go rogue. They forget that they are representing 315,000,000 Americans, but rather act as if their job is to go native and join in the tearing down of their own country.

As far as I'm concerned, the State Department can be dismantled completely, and redone from scratch.

They are actually worse than incompetent political "reward' appointees.
