The only thing that really needs to be determined from Israel’s POV, is whether or not a policy of containment or mutually assured destruction is conceivable with a nuclear Iran.
If Iran is using nuclear armament as a purely economic chip, and has no interest in martyring its nation by overwhelming nuclear reprisals, then containment is a possibility. If Iran is using nuclear armament as an eschatological fulfillment, then Israel has no choice but to take them down.
That is the fence upon which all this sits, and no one wants to act until it becomes clearer what Iran wants out of all of this. Action at any point could result in a nuclear exchange. If it’s avoidable action, it must be avoided. If it’s unavoidable, i.e., Iran is fulfilling its perceived Islamic destiny, then they have to be confronted sooner rather than later.
All political calculations are mute when they pull that trigger, that day. A simultaneous pop. I think its a certainty once they get a few dozen ready. Murder is a religious sacrament to them. We are the Lamb.
From whom?
If Iran launches a first strike against Israel, they may be unable to respond. The West is unlikely to act without strong leadership from the U. S. Obama, has already shown his feet of clay (he cannot even decide on more troops for a war we are already in)is unlikely to do anything but vote present.
