Well maybe it’s because she didn’t SAY
Jews need a place to live.
She SAID
“because all the Jews moving to Israel need a place to live.”
Moving to ISRAEL makes the whole premise of your statement sound flimsy and nitpicky.
Other than that, I agree with you that we HAVE places to live. And the criticism from the white tent and the world at large seems to be we don’t have the RIGHT to live anywhere.
The headlin, indeed the thread, quoted it as “Jews need a place to live” not “Jews moving to Israel need a place to live”. I was responding to the quote I read. Not surprising that the media would take her quote out of context. I wag my finger in shame and the editor for such a hatchet job, since, he the editor wrote “blacks need a place to live” it would conjure up Ghettos. And while I support Israel, it isn’t a ghetto. Jews should have the right to live anywhere anyone else lives.
Still, as a national figure she should be savvy by now to choose words and explain ideas very carefully. Though I admit, it doesn’t seem to matter to most. President Bush wasn’t very eloquent and he won twice, and you couldn’t get more vague than President Obama’s campaign and he won. So I guess standards have dropped but I digress from the main issue.
