Now that former CNN host Lou Dobbs has been freed of his duties with his former network, he has been making the rounds on other networks - Fox News "The O'Reilly Factor," Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" and now with his long-time rival's show CNBC's "The Kudlow Report."
One of the issues debated among a panel consisting of Dobbs, host Larry Kudlow, former Clinton Secretary of Labor Robert Reich and CNBC CME Group reporter Rick Santelli on Nov. 19 was the issue of wage stagnation - which Dobbs blamed on outsourcing, immigration policy and technological advancement.
"I believe that the issue of unemployment in this country and job creation fundamentally will have to be taken on as a matter of government policy," Dobbs said. "It will also have to be taken on as a matter of business leadership. As to the idea that wages have been stagnant in this country for 35 year, point of fact, we have to understand what the causes are."

Are the items paid for? If someone has a plasma TV which they bought on credit, and are still paying for, how is that good?
I think it’s a matter of personal discipline to buy only what you can afford. Many Americans are in trouble due to easy credit and home equity loans. Those not in deep trouble like my friends watch their pennies but still consider themselves better off than their middle-class parents.
One friend, Tom, has his own plumbing business and considers himself middle-class. Yet, Tom paid cash for all three of his vehicles; put 30% down on his house and was still able to take his family on vacation every year until 2008 as well as save for retirement and business reserves. His dad, a successful millwork carpenter in the Sixties and Seveties, told me he admired his son for working so hard to provide for his family. The downside is that Tom’s had a number of heart operations and works long hours.
Conservatives don’t have a crush on Dobbs the Doucher. This article is weakly laid out and poorly written. (Like my posts)
That wages/incomes have not kept up with other costs in the system is hard to deny. That middle-class life is better today than 50 years ago is also hard to deny. They do not exactly correlate.
Property taxes and income taxes, not to mention school tuition at all levels and other associated necessities of life take a huge toll on the pocketbooks of American families. While we make more, we are spending more. The hamster on the wheel keeps running faster, but the wheel is spinning in circles.
I make more in one day than my father made in a week. But he was able to pay cash for private school tuition for 6 kids, own his house outright before he was 30 and leave a bundle for his bride to live on when he was finally taken home to Heaven.
Yep, we certainly live larger, but is it better?
