In his new book The Audacity to Win, Obama for America campaign manager David Plouffe recalls that Sen. John McCain's selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate was a fundraising boon -- for the Obama campaign.
"We had taken in millions of dollars in the three hours since Palin had started speaking," Plouffe recalls. "We hadn't even asked for most of it; we had sent out just a single unplanned fund-raising email highlighting her attacks on community organizers, but it was just starting to hit people's in-boxes as I checked the numbers. So the big response from the last three hours meant people were merely venting via contribution.
"Her speech might have ginned up their base, but apparently it had sent ours into orbit ," Plouffe continues. "The image that came into my mind was of people sitting home with a computer on their laps, watching the Palin speech, and getting angrier and angrier, contributing again and then again. 'I hope she keeps this up,' I thought. 'Sarah Palin has now become our best fund-raiser.'

Does it matter? Politics is the art of making your erstwhile opponents as well as enemies smile as you shove the shiv in their back. Reagan was a master at it.
Unfortunately, Sarah has become the lightning rod of the left and on the right is burning so many bridges out on her way out of Atlanta I’m not sure she’ll be able to find her way back.
Success in politics, and I mean the kind of success one’s supporters wish to see, is not gained only on building a significant base core of supporters, but also being able to
manhandle you’re legislation through public opinion and two houses of congress.
To me, Sarah seems to be banking on an extended tour of duty as a populist, not a politician. Otherwise you’d see a much different strategy than the one playing out on her book tour.
Dems have SO many skeletons in their closet, the problem is, they have something we don’t, they have the media in their back pocket. Even some on Fox News are gone to kissing Obama’s ass. I dont know if its fear of the Fairness Doctrine or what, but its sad to see

It is quite apparent that Mr. Pouf - ooops - PLOUFFE - has simply mis-read his stats on Democratic contributors. That big rush of money was actually all of the Saudi and Middle East credit card scam that was timed to provide an offset to the CLEARLY extraordinary response of the PUBLIC - note, Mr. Pouffe - American Public - NOT illegal foreign Arab scam drive - to Sarah.
Plouffe is a true Bozo.
I think that what Plouffe had written in his book is just as accurate as what Obama had written in 'Dreams of my Father'. And, as accurate as what was written in 'Roots'.

You troll every Palin thread with your anti-conservative, pro-rino campaign but Palin does better among republicans and independents than any other GOP candidate.
Not only does Palin poll better than everyone else with Independents and Republicans but she also polls better with Democrats than Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich.
Sarah Palin has higher national approval numbers than even Obama himself.
