Citizens for a Public Option

Citizens for a Public Option

Dear Friend, Moments ago, the Senate voted to begin its full debate on historic health care reform legislation instead of obstructing it with a filibuster.

Tonight's vote marks the biggest victory to date for our grassroots effort to pass health care reform with a public option. We cannot give enough thanks to the over 100,000 signers of our petition at CitizensForAPublicOption.com for helping to fundamentally shift the momentum towards meaningful reform.

Not long ago, a few loud opponents of reform armed and organized by the insurance industry dominated this debate. Now the American people, the majority of whom support a public option, have spoken out and gained the upper hand.

Not long ago, the public option seemed like little more than a pipe dream. Now it's part of health care bills in both the Senate and the House.

Not long ago, members of our own Democratic caucus weren't sure they could even support an up-or-down vote on health care reform legislation. Tonight they voted to end the Republican filibuster.

But despite this good news, the fight for meaningful health care reform is not over. As we debate amendments to this legislation in the coming weeks, we will work with our colleagues to ensure it continues to address the "Three C's" of meaningful reform: competition, choice, and cost reduction. And we will firmly oppose any effort to eliminate the public option.

Tonight we celebrate a milestone no one thought we could reach just months ago. Tomorrow the fight continues. We will not let up until the President signs a bill we can all be proud of.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Senator Dick Durbin, Senator Patrick Leahy, Senator Chuck Schumer

If any of you FReepers do not understand that this will be a fundamental change in the way you live your life, ponder children, activities and aging of your parents and yourself, you are fooling yourself. This put doctors on the pay scale of bureaucrats and regulates every treatment, medicine and will forcably take your money and fine/jail you if you don’t do it.

This is a big a disaster as Obama, who is Jimmy Carter on steroids.

This program will be the tipping point for making the US a broken nation and will force us under a UN-led government, the Democratic wet dream of being part of the true Global Elite who force not just districts, states or our country to do what they want, they will have the opportunity to rule the planet.

This is an act of war, in my mind, and obviously treason.

Can I get a show of hands? Has anyone who is opposed to this "reform" EVER had communication of any kind with anyone associated with the insurance industry urging them to oppose the public option? I for one have not.

“”the “Three C’s” of meaningful reform: competition, choice, and cost reduction.””

AND to think this all got started because there were 45 million uninsureds (AHEM!)in the country! They are so corrupt in DC they can’t even keep their own stories straight. I never could understand how they could go from millions of uninsureds one day to health insurance reform the next day and then on to health costs reform the day after that. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard about the uninsureds.

Can ANYONE in or out of government point to any time in the past 60 years (besides Hillary’s attempt) that health care reform was a priority for legislators? I sure don’t and I’ve been around a long time but it’s all we hear from dems - blah blah since Harry Truman’s time in office and blah blah Ted Kennedy’s dream???? When he was sober or when he was drunk? Lying is not a problem for these imbeciles. Nor is bribery as was announced today.

I hate when they use the term "a government option will give the insurance companies competition."

What the heck is FedEx and UPS to the USPS? And how's that been working out?

The rats are lying Marxists, and the American people are stupid for ever believing anything that comes out of their mouths!

Some states already poised to opt out of government-run public health plan

By Tony Romm - 11/21/09 02:02 PM ET

At least 11 states intend to forge ahead in the coming months with bills and ballot questions designed to block some of the healthcare reforms Democrats are trying to pass this year.

Their efforts could be a harbinger of trouble for the staple feature of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) newly unveiled healthcare plan: a public option that allows states the ability not to participate.

Among those states likely to bow out first could be Virginia and New Jersey, which both recently elected Republican governors.

I think his post is very relevant. Clearly, it’s to share what top Dems think of tonight’s procedural vote in the Senate. It’s a post to show wha( true evil looks like.

Just about cartridge box time, I think, but I guess it’s one more time through the congressional loop.

Still, one more case of ammo goes on order...

well I am from the UK and this Govt health care is and will not work as I have lived under it unlike the dopes who support this.

This boob check every two year at 50 is the start of Govt telling women that they will not be checked earlier.
watch taxes go up

watch cancer deaths go up

If any of these dopes do not believe me then look at the stats and talk to folks like me who came form Govt health care.

Your messiah does not know what he is talking about as he is not getting this Govt health care and yet you dopes ignore that

if it is so good then why does those who support and vote for this not get it?>

To support this shows how stupid and ignorant some people are and yes it is you lefty troll and the loon left.

Here's a novel idea: why don't we let insurance companies give insurance companies competition?

exactly

instead of just moaning on here and making a few posts against it then I hope everyone calls, gets friends, family, neighbors etc to call as well against it.

We will not get anywhere by thinking others will do the calls and work.

There have to be Constitutional experts on this board, is there any way to challenge the Constituionality of the public option? Is the government allowed to create agencies to compete with private industry like this? Could they just decide to open their own mortgage company and offer lower rates than the others or their own cell phone company, etc?

I know they’ve taken over banks and GM but they didn’t create and open those businesses.
