The Archdiocese of Boston, not the Church, was involved in that circus masquerading as a funeral Mass. Whether or not Ted Kennedy spends eternity in hell or heaven is the providence of Almighty God and that judgment was made at the moment of death, just as Scripture teaches. I agree. But I do not confuse the miscreant priests or lay participants with the actual theology of the Catholic Church.
However, Bishop Tobin is finally one of the first of the clergy to take a stand on what the Church teaches in regard to a Catholic legislator.
With the blatant voting record of Ted Kennedy, the Church never made a public, individually pointed ‘peep’ as to the Senator’s political record which was antithetically against the tenets of The Faith.

What about all the people who were led astray by Ted Kennedy because he was a “pro-choice Catholic”? The blame falls squarely on his liberal confessor, and on the Church, which gives such power of absolution to men.
