For Sen. Blanche Lincoln, the moderate Arkansas Democrat, the nations health-care woes may lead to more headaches than any medicine could alleviate.
Lincoln is a pivotal vote on the motion to begin debate on Senate majority leader Harry Reids health-care legislation; if the motion passes, she could be the swing vote on the eventual motion to close debate. Her decision isnt simply a calculation about winning the right number of concessions, as perhaps President Obama and the Democratic leadership hope; its about her political survival.
The pressure in Washington may be significant Lincoln has had sit-down meetings with Obama and Senate majority leader Harry Reid but so is the pressure back home, where Lincoln is showing clear signs of political weakness heading into her 2010 reelection campaign.

Whatever happened to good democrats? Are they all dirty and willing to take bribes from Obama? I believe this healthcare bill is a waterloo for that party (and clearly corrupt and buyable politicians) and those who choose to spit in the eyes of about 80% of Americans who do NOT under any circumstances want this healthcare bill to pass. I doubt these democrats whose souls are for sale take seriously the wrath voters will have upon them as soon as they are up for re-election.
Is there a PING list for Arkansas Tea Parties? Time to change her name from Blanche to Roasted! Bring it on her Arkansas!
She’s a despicable embarrassment to the name “Lincoln”
They converted and switched to conservatives. Expecting a few more to arrive as well with Zeronomics in full bore mode.
“I believe this healthcare bill is a waterloo for that party . . .)”
You assume we will ever have another free and fair election in this country under the current governmental system. I am one of those “glass if half full” people and I have now began to wonder without something short of another shooting revolution. The fact these people have no regard whatsoever for the wishes of their constituents says they are not concerned at all about possible consequences of blantat corruption.
That thougt has been gaining steam with people as of late. As long as ACORN and the SEIU are around to intimidate voters, falsify vote and identity information and do "their thing," votiing will be in danger of serious corruption. Democrats refuse to invetigate them. There needs to be something done to assure voters that their votes are legitimate and that fraudulence in voting is prosecuted with severe penalty (jail time by those who assist fraudulent voting and those who cast fraudulent votes).
This SNL skit tells exactly what Pbama and the Democraps are doing to us.
Blanche is toast; she just doesn’t know it yet.
Does Lincoln charge even more?
I tried to call her, Landreau and Bennett all day yesterday. I think they’ve taken phones off the hook so....
Monday, I’m mailing them all pink slips. Many, many pink slips to tell them they are fired. Effective November, 2010.
Nice catch! I laughed out loud a few times.
