IN the case of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan and the Fort Hood massacre, the verdict has come in. The liberal news media have been found guilty by the conservative news media of coddling Major Hasans religion, Islam.
Liberals, according to the columnist Charles Krauthammer, wanted to medicalize Major Hasans crime call it an act of insanity rather than of terrorism. They worked overtime, Mr. Krauthammer said on Fox News, to avoid any implication that there was any connection between his Islamist beliefs ... and his actions. The columnist Jonah Goldberg agrees. Admit it, he wrote in The Los Angeles Times, Major Hasan is a Muslim fanatic, motivated by other Muslim fanatics.
The good news for Mr. Krauthammer and Mr. Goldberg is that there is truth in their indictment. The bad news is that their case against the left-wing news media is the case against right-wing foreign policy. Seeing the Fort Hood shooting as an act of Islamist terrorism is the first step toward seeing how misguided a hawkish approach to fighting terrorism has been.
The American right and left reacted to 9/11 differently. Their respective responses were, to oversimplify a bit: kill the terrorists and kill the terrorism meme.
Conservatives backed war in Iraq, and theyre now backing an escalation of the war in Afghanistan. Liberals (at least, dovish liberals) have warned in both cases that killing terrorists is counterproductive if in the process you create even more terrorists; the object of the game isnt to wipe out every last Islamist radical but rather to contain the virus of Islamist radicalism.

Translation: Bush’s fault.
Learn it. Live it. Love it.
HASAN, the Koran and Islamic enablers are at fault.
And this stereotype persist why?
The World Trade Center would not have been attacked if Bush had not attacked Afghanistan and Iraq and proclaimed a War on Terror which understandably upset the Moslems’ delicate feelings.
"Learn it. Live it. Love it."
This course they are taking is low even by their standards...the one thing you can say for sure about today's media is that when they join Ted Kennedy (D-HELL) they will have secured a place in the same special place he has both in history and eternity...
Islam is an intrinsically belligerent religion if Islam is based on that book, the Koran.
Freedo Hating is extending from the finger they use the most...
You are right. Considering that we went to war a few years before 9/11 with the intent of fighting against Islamic terrorists in the Balk........oh wait. This is one of the silliest excuses of an article that I read. So, I am guessing that we can all trace Islamic terrorism to the WOT. So did the Iranian hostage crisis result from Jimmy Carter declaring war on Iraq?
Suddenly I feel like I am in a Bill and Ted movie.
Hasan was aspousing LEFT wing politcal tendencies...including accusing US soldiers of “war crimes”...
Of course the Times is right. We had almost no terrorist attacks before the WOT, except for Khobar Towers, the Cole, the first WTC bombing, .....
No, the Iranian Hostage Crisis also derives from the righteous indignation and hurt feelings of the Arabs because of George Bush’s insensitivity and brutality in attacking Afghanistan.
In part. But really, it is because of:
We didn’t start the war on terror.
I am also guessing that, according to this idiot writer, the pirates of Barbary attacked us because George Bush called them evil-doers.
Sheesh, I think we all need to play a game called Six Degrees of George Bush. It would be like Six Degrees of Separation/Kevin Bacon except there are no rules and realism doesn’t exist.
Pinch IS the typical self-loathing liberal Jew, isn’t he?
