COMPUTER hackers have broken into Britain's leading climate science research centre, making public thousands of private emails between top climate change scientists and, in the process, laying bare their bitter disagreements about the cause of climate change.
The emails -- more than 2000 of them, plus 3000 documents -- began appearing online late on Friday, and are widely available.
Some are malicious -- in one, the head of Britain's Climatic Research Unit, Phil Jones, says he is "cheered" by news of the sudden death of a prominent Australian climate sceptic, John L. Daly, who died of a heart attack at his Launceston home in 2004.
Others show scientists referring to sceptical colleagues as "prats", "charlatans" and "idiots".
The emails also acknowledge the frustration of trying to find evidence to "prove" man-made climate change.

The US Press is so.... in the tank.
JUST PASS IT AROUND ON YOUR EMAIL LISTS.
IT IS BETTER THEN THE LAME MSM
One only had to look at Al Gore’s lack of character to know it was a con game. There was his blocking of the military absentee ballots in Florida, the in-your-face hypocrisy of his lifestyle. Why would anyone so concerned about global warming deliberately burn as much carbon as he can get his hands on, and why can’t his glassy-eyed religious followers see it? Dopes.
In spite of 1000 headlines, there is no evidence that hacking was involved. It looks more like a leak by an insider.
The Australian has always been a far more reliable source about what’s happening in the US and with US policy than have been US papers. They were, for instance, far more reliable in the Iraq War build-up and ongoings.
Scientist Ben Santer is quoted as saying he would like to “talk to a few of these (sceptics) in a dark alley”. Bring it on ben, I would love to kick your liberal ass.
Hackers did this. They’re evil, vile people. We ought not use this stolen data to point out the fraud. It is much better to pretend it does not exist than to use it.
We need to lose fairly and know we went into the chains of bondage to a global government without the dishonor of using information that a hacker, who should probably get the electric chair, stole!
(Come on, you know there are probably people here on FR posting this is all seriousness.)
