wow that excerpt is very moving. wow.
I think I’m going to have to order this book.
LOL! Not bawling but definitely choked up. I’ve got a wiggler in me right now that I, too, am anxious to meet. This was a beautiful story. Now I have to go get the whole book!!!
Bump for later.
Crying my eyes out.
I had a brother who was “different” and who died at 4 years of age. My mother had 11 other children (who all still live) but everyone knew that she loved this child the most.
Well, we all loved him, it was a devastating loss. But I was 18, my mother only 39.
Todd's attitude is refreshing.
Why can't people ever get it right?
I couldn’t read the entire article because I started crying.
I’m a 52 yr old 6’3” 260lb. man, cryin’ my eyes out right now.
53, 5’10” 200 lbs, squalling too. My grandson has downs. He is GREAT!
Perhaps because it's DOWN Syndrome? Read on:
National Down Syndrome Society
National Down Syndrome Congress
It is Down’s. People have been saying “Down” (incorrectly) for so long that it has made it into the dictionary. Ugh!
Perhaps you should take it up with the many organizations that I gave you links to.
I agree that it SHOULD be called Down’s Syndrome after the doctor who first described it as a distinct disability (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s are both named for the doctors who first described those diseases). However, John Langdon Down preferred the disgusting term “mongoloid” and ever since that term was discarded the condition has been referred to as Down Syndrome.
Thanks for posting!
Could you tell me what the exact title of this chapter is? A friend of mine wants to know.
