Well chosen clothing for her. Looks good.

If she were paying for it with money that had been honestly made I’d be pleased for her.

It’s very unlikely she or the taxpayers paid a dime for it. For this sort of thing, that brings a designer fame, they tend to donate their time and labor. The dress is not considered the property of Michelle or the US. In some cases it’s donated to the Smithsonian to join their collection of “historic” First Ladies’ gowns.
