“War is an ugly thing at best..”

Certainly.

“But if is undertaken putting certain constraints on the people we ask to fight it is a recipe for disaster.”/p>

I agree with you 100%.

“I will repeat this, a fat lip is nothing.”

Sure. Given what the terrorist did, you're right. It's an act of indecency for Mr. Ahmed to file a complaint after he burned the corpses of four Americans and strung them up from a bridge. I agree with you 100%.

“We don’t cut people’s heads off on video tape!!! That is who we are dealing with.”

Again I agree. We're dealing with very bad people backed by a militant culture that sanctions if not encourages extreme violence toward outsiders, however that group may be defined at the moment.

This is where we diverge on our opinions:

“But if (war)is undertaken putting certain constraints on the people we ask to fight it is a recipe for disaster.”

The seals weren't fighting the enemy, they were guarding a prisoner. They have rules against punching prisoners, and somebody allegedly broke that rule. The terrorist complained to the Iraqi government, and for some reason they chose to push the allegation. Once the Iraqis pursued the claim of abuse, our military had to investigate. By disciplining a soldier who broke the rules, they are doing the right thing. A breakdown in discipline can lead to the loss of American lives in war, and that is the issue that is at the heart of this case.

That is a stretch for anybody. Think about what you are saying.
