As they battle the holiday crowds this weekend, frazzled travelers at Chicago airports also will have the option of stopping to get protection against the swine flu virus.
A clinic at O'Hare International Airport run by the University of Illinois at Chicago began offering H1N1 flu vaccines in nasal mist form this week. City officials say the clinic also hopes to receive arm-shot vaccines this week and plans to open kiosks to administer the mist form of the vaccine at both O'Hare and Midway this weekend.
"We feel that it is a good amenity and service for travelers passing through the airport as well as the employees working at the airport," said Gregg Cunningham, a spokesman for the Department of Aviation.
City officials said the UIC clinic at O'Hare now has several hundred doses of the nasal mist, which it is offering in Terminal 2 to qualified individuals. They would not specify how many more doses of the hard-to-find vaccine the clinic had ordered or how many were expected this week.
"There should be a sufficient supply to get through the Thanksgiving holiday travel period," said Karen Pride, director of media relations for the Department of Aviation and a spokeswoman for both airports.

I don’t trust Big Brother for one Socialist second.
Some outfit has been offering flu shots in the concourses in the Atlanta airport. I fly every week and have yet to see ANYONE utilizing the service.
What’s the point? Immunity doesn’t develop until about two weeks after the shot.
What??? How insane is this? What happens when there’s an allergic reaction in the airport or on the plane? Can they say “lawsuit”?
The big swine flu epidemic scare that went bust. Sheesh, all this manufactured crisis will now just go to waste.
PING!
with just nasal flue vac the hospital said he would be put in isolation if it was less than 7 days since he had the vac. it spreads flue
By the way, how do you know if you have a really bad cold or the flu? I got the regular flu shot ,not H1N1 (why I let the doc talk me into it I don’t know because I felt horrible for three days following) but now I have been coughing, sneezing, fever, etc... since Tuesday. Getting harder to breath fully.
Just wondering if it’s a cold setting into a bacterial infection or the flu and if it’s the flu, that was the first and last flu shot I get.
They don’t use live cells in the shots, so you probably had already been exposed prior to your shot and since incubation times vary, this is why it took a few days to present. You didn’t get the flu from the shot.
There are a lot of very sick people out there. Just because the news media isn't talking about it, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
My sister in-law has been in ICU for the past 12 days with H1N1. She is in an induced coma, on a respirator and on dialysis.
I suspect the reason we aren't hearing more about it is because there are extreme shortages for the seasonal and the H1N1 vaccines, so if they reported all the hospitalizations and deaths from this, with no vaccines available, certain people might panic, causing chaos at clinics when small amounts of the vaccine does arrive.

I never said I got the flu from my shot. I got the shot three weeks ago. I am saying if I have ‘the flu’, the regular seasonal flu, I should be IMMUNE! What’s the point of getting vaccinated if you still end up with a flu strain and I know it’s not guaranteed.
Which is my point. I got the shot, felt like crap from the side effects of it (not the flu) and still end up getting A flu of some sort.
You were probably sick before. The flu shots do NOT prevent the flu, they just reduce the severity of it, if you get the flu.
IMO, they’re all dirty. We The People have a lot of sewer cleaning to do. Expose them to the American people and then We The People will do our patriotic duty for our children and grandchildren’s futures by voting them out in disgrace.
My doctor told me that most of the flu cases they are seeing this year are swine flu. I had it, and my symptoms were a high fever (102 - 103) that lasted for about 5 days. It came on very suddenly; I felt a little off in the morning, and by 2pm I was running a high fever and felt really bad. I spent most of the next 3 days sleeping. I didn't initially have any lung issues (i.e. coughing), but after those first 5 days I developed a cough that eventually turned into bronchitis.
Many of the people who get seriously ill from flu are actually ill from a secondary (bacterial) infection that takes hold due to a immune system weakened by the flu. Pneumonia is nothing to mess around with; if you are finding you have increasing difficulty breathing, I would definately go see a doctor.
I have a chart somewhere that shows the different symptoms between a cold and H1N1/swine flu. It's on my other computer back home, so I can't get to it right now. However, here is a chart that shows general differences in symptoms between a cold and the seasonal flu. The H1N1 chart was very similar.

My experience was just like yours pertaining to the fever and bronchitis from the swine flu. Unfortunately, I think I am getting again.
Crap, according to that chart, I have the flu.
Except the sneezing part. But everything else is there. Including a stomach flu (won’t go into yucky details)... which is a little scary since from what I’ve researched is a part of the H1N1 flu.
I know we have it going around in our county.

Especially in Chicago - they probably inoculate everyone with liberal germs....
