The problem with granting clemency to a person sentenced to a prison term of twice his age at the age of 17 is that the person probably cannot be rehabilitated...though such a person can be a “model prisoner” for a few years. It is simply wrong for a governor to grant clemency to any prisoner who has not served at least half of his or her sentence.

This is the end of the political road for Huckabee. It’s over for him. And that is a very good thing.

Shouldn’t the title have been ‘ ANOTHER Huckabee clemency gone awry?’

Think this puts a lid on it for Huckabee and any Presidential 'possibility thinking'. Do not know details; but innocent blood spilled; and some of it, fair or not; surely on his hands. Am sure he is not feeling well at all, sicne this explosive and tragic unfolding.

Am sure Fox News not too happy about the Governor's connection to killer perp either.

I just heard that this s.o.b. was also out on $100,000 bail for all kinds of disgusting naughtiness (child rape, etc).
So it’s looking like epic fail all over for Huck AND the state of Wa., too.

Never liked Huckabee anyway, don't trust "holier than thous".
FYI
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2010385617_webmansought29.html
“Deputies also interviewed other family (Maurice Clemmons’) members. They reported that Clemmons had been saying he could fly and that he expected President Obama to visit to “confirm that he is Messiah in the flesh.”

“confirm that he is Messiah in the flesh.” Are we talking Eugene Robinson of the WaPo?

If Clemmons is found responsible, "it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State," Huckabee said.

I can't believe he had the audacity to say this!

>>>Read the whole thing, but is this Huckabee’s Willie Horton?<<<

I think so. Seems to me that Huckabee is done as a presidential candidate. This is probably worse than Willie Horton, becasue:

a) IIRC, Dukakis didn’t specifically release Horton, but supported the furlough program that lead to his release. Supporting the idiotic furlough program is bad enough, but at least Dukakis didn’t review Horton’s record and decide it was a good idea to let him loose on the streets. Huckabee actually granted clemency to Clemmons.

b) Horton committed rape, assault and some other felonies after using his furlough to escape, but he did not kill anyone, much less four police officers, during that time (he was in jail for murder at the time of the furlough, though.)

This will likely cause Huckabee’s support among conservatives (and even common sense, anti-crime moderates) to plummet, as well it should. I can’t see him getting more that 10 to 15% in a GOP primary now.

A home monitoring ankle bracelet was found in his Tacoma home. He cut it off. The list of officials that alloud this beast to be on the street is long. The blood of these officers is on their hands.

Explains why on FoxNews Sunday he was pessimistic about the chances that he would run for President in 2012.
