“Yep, we are a Christian Nation!”

Oh no we are not. We wouldn’t have the problems we have today if we were a Christian nation. We have never been a Christian nation. We formed this nation in sin.

Our leaders loved God but they also tolerated slavery. They were like the Kings of Israel who kept the Ashe-rah poles on the hills.

Cross = death of Jesus i.e. Easter

Nativity = birth of Christ i.e. Christmas. The traditional symbol is a Star.

Advent is the beginning of the church year.

We were founded on Judeo Christian principles...appypappy, we bow to no one,we are created equal. We have made mistakes along the way, but we have done great things too. We also gave our lives to free the slaves...

Please see post #7...

The reason I chose the cross, is it is universally recognized as the symbol for Christianity. I don's think we should get too fussy. They always hold crosses up to drive demons out. LOL and imho that is what we are up against these days...I'm sticking with crosses.

The nativity scene would have been Ideal, but that is too complicated if we want the whole nation and all the different churches to get on board. Don't get too picky...

“We also gave our lives to free the slaves”

And then put them under Jim Crow. Then we gave them all their rights including the right to legally kill their own children in the womb. Then we enslaved them to the government.

Our real home is in Heaven. A true Christian country would not kill its unborn by the millions just for convenience sake. A true Christian country would not declare the name of Jesus Christ to be “offensive”. A true Christian country would not bring smut in school libraries and toss prayer out.

This country has declared war on Christianity.

Cross = death of Jesus i.e. Easter

He is Risen!

We do not worship a fallen Lord!

Your point about secular pollution is very valid but, we were founded with Judeo Christian values, not Christ's perfection. .

We can do better, much better if we tear down those idols.

The cross can be an idol, but if it is if held up in right heartedness to God giving him the glory it is a good thing.

No, not offended. I just don’t like anyone telling me what religion my country is. The founders were careful about this, and we should be too.

We owe this country to the Protestant Christians who founded it. No human is perfect, but it was set up mostly by Christians, with some Deist among them. No country in the World’s History has ever been better!

“We owe this country to the Protestant Christians who founded it.”

Maryland was represented at this founding too! ;-)

Christmas isn’t at all about crosses.

It’s about God’s most precious gift to the World.

Easter is about crosses.

How about a dove representing the Holy Spirit?

I got that you don’t think that a nation with almost 80% of the population being Christian, makes the nation something other than Christian.

We are all sinners, saved by the grace of God and forgiven those sins by God sending his Son; Jesus Christ to die for those sins.

I am saved and I’m looking forward to spending eternity in Heaven.

In order to be Christian nation, it would have to accept Jesus Christ as its Lord and Savior. You can’t even say His name in public unless you are cursing. I don’t think that a nation that suppresses Christian activities and celebrates blasphemy can be described as Christian.

Every letter I mail through the post office, I write on the back flap, ‘In God We Trust’ on it.

I bought pins to give on gifts this year, that have a red ribbon in the shape of a cross that say ‘God’s Gift Merry Christmas’.

I set up a projector on the side of my house with The Manger scene, for Christmas.

Am considering putting up a huge wooden ‘Ten Commandments’ in my yard along side of a Cross.

The last several years, the Crucifixion is re enacted with humans on the cross, in my town, on the freeway for all passing to see, and lit up. People stop their cars along the freeway, honk their horns as they drive slowly by, take pictures etc, bring warm coffee, cider etc for the ‘crucified’.

Thank God, I live where we are still free to do this, so far.
