Climategate: The Washington Post in Denial
Pajamas Media ^ | Dec. 1 | Myron Ebell

Posted on 12/01/2009 3:07:53 PM PST by AJKauf

When I read the Washington Post’s disgraceful editorial the other day on the Climategate scandal, I thought of how far they have fallen since their big moment in the sun, Watergate. In those heady days, editor Ben Bradlee and a team of crack investigative reporters led by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein exposed the Watergate cover-up and brought down President Nixon. Of course, they were then on the side of the permanent Washington establishment, who loathed Nixon (as he loathed them), just as they are now on the side of the permanent Washington establishment, for whom global warming alarmism is a deeply held commitment.

If it were up to the Washington Post and the New York Times and the three major teevee broadcast networks, the Climategate scandal would be last week’s news. Their strategy is clearly to contain and sanitize it. The “world’s leading climate scientists” and the environmental pressure groups and the mainstream media have all agreed on their talking points. Their story is: Critics are cherry-picking a few nasty emails and taking them out of context, but the vast edifice of scientific consensus is unshaken. And they’re sticking to it. But already this cover-up isn’t working. ...

The Post was a little hasty in publishing a rebuttal from Mann, the hockey stick fraudster himself. Today, Penn State opened an investigation into possible academic misconduct.

Unfortunately for the Compost, Climategate is not a one act play.

The thing of it is, this was a double grand prize win if they managed to push this thing through. There were billions to be made just generating phony bits of paper through the carbon offset brokerages, and at the same time it was the lever that put government in direct charge of literally every industry and every single activity of every single individual no matter how hum-drum. Absolutely anything that could be analyzed in terms of its supposed carbon footprint could be regulated on that basis, and that means absolutely everything right down to every breath you take.

The law would require you to get a permit to breathe, and they’d sell you the permit. Think I’m kidding? Pay more attention to what they say among themselves.

With that much money and that much power in play, they aren’t going to give up that easily. The guy who dreamed of being your round-the-clock dictator and making billions doing it, isn’t going to suddenly say, “oh, it was all a hoax you say... fancy that...” He isn’t going to go back to whatever it was he did for a living before.

We’re still going to have to fight. But if we’ll fight we’ll win.

Mann brought a whole lot of grant money to the university. They will exonorate him somehow. Didn’t Mencken say something about university presidents and whores.

It’s past time when the MSM can squelch this one, IMHO. It’s getting toward time when a couple of prominent passengers are going to be tossed out of the sleigh to the wolves to lighten the load for the rest. If I were Jones and Mann I’d rehearsing “You want fries with that?”

Couldn't fine that one, but did find this Mencken quote:

"Let's not burn the universities yet. After all, the damage they do might be worse."

Re #5

Absolutely. They know they've been caught in a lie (and maybe they've always known it was a lie) -- but that's not the issue at this point. There's money to be lifted out of the American taxpayers - and by golly, they aren't going to quict on this global socialism quest. Like taking a steak out of the jaws of a pitbull...

The MSM and Governments are all going to pretend that what happened two weeks ago didn't happen. They are all going to play act like no one knows they are lying. They don't care. The 'watchdog' media isn't going to call them on it, and they are betting that they can throw enough bread and circuses at the masses to distract them from the theft being enacted...

Money can also be played two-ways. Apparently alumni are cancelling contributions almost en masse, prompting this investigation, I suspect.

Har. I called to cancel my subscription about week ago. When they asked me why, I said it was their lousy editorial content, their bias, their slant, their intellectual dishonesty and their transparent, lame attempts at manipulation and concealment. The poor circulation person offered me a discount (if I would continue to subscribe) for “dissatisfied readers”! Sorry, no thanks. Their circulation is dropping like a stone, and they richly deserve it.

The Washington Post and NYT will continue to sneer at this development because it's not their story. But there is more to it.
Climategate has played out for more than a week with 2nd day and 3rd day stories that have tracked on their own. For the newspapers to under report an event like this shows a deliberate decision to blackball the story because it harms their political friends.

The scribblers at the WP are fools and stupid liberals. They don’t have the brainpower to stop the tsunami of truth coming at them.

And if you don’t know how stupid liberals are concerning the global warming scam, ask one how much CO2 is in the atmosphere as a percentage of GH gases. Prepare to fall off your chair laughing.
