the Rupert Murdoch attempt to gain pay-per-click will be an epic fail. There will simply be too many other free sources on the web where one can go for news. The number of clicks and views on such sites will plummet dramatically.

In the last two weeks I watched only two programs live. Sunday's Bear game and Obama's speech. I don't know which was the greater wast of time. Everything else was DVR (Beck, some History Channel and my sci-fi's)or Internet downloads.
Note that on the Internet downloads you only get one commercial, but you can't skip it. And if you click on the screen during the commercial it takes you right to the sponsors web page.
As for the demise of the print industry, I'm taking that with a grain of salt. Between Beck's books, Going Rogue, and Java training manuals I've consumed my share of ground trees this year. Then Again I have one room of my house set aside as a dedicated library so I'm probably a bit of a Luddite.

The specialty film units, those divisions known for producing artier, sophisticated Oscar bait, have nearly disappeared. They just simply don't have the appeal of big-budget, popcorn movies. This is really good news. When Hollywood makes these 'art' films they are particularly viciously anti-American and perverse. The stuff meant to appeal to most Americans may be stupid, but are usually less vile.
