When President Barack Obama addressed the cadets at West Point and the American people in a prime time television address he did so with immense expectations on his plate Tuesday night.
After all, how would he explain the fact that it took five months to claim that his strategy "was not 'wavering'" from his own policy as it was expressed in March of this very year?
President Obama's lengthy speech on Tuesday night was a bag of confusion, poorly defined terms, badly defined objectives and even less overall clarity.
In one sentence President Obama proclaimed that the effort in Afghanistan was the greatest threat to peace for the worldwide community and in the next sentence he declared the deadline by which the military objectives must be completed.
Message to the terrorists? Wait it out. Blend in. Pretend to be a non-terrorist until July of 2011, then all will be well.
But since he can't come out and say that...

Obama might as well have held a military briefing for Al Queada and the Taliban with maps, time schedules and plans. What a disgusting display of incompetence and a clear desire NOT TO WIN in Afghanistan.
Did Obama say we’re pulling out in 18 months, or did he specifically say 2011.
It’s a big difference coming from BHO.
Here’s a better exit strategy:
1. Subdue the enemy.
2. Hold a giant yard sale.
3. Pack up.
4. Exit.
The strategies get more complicated, when you leave out the first step & they usually end something like this:
1. Drop everything that doesn’t move fast.
2. Grab hold of anything that does move fast.
3. Hightail it out of there.
1 Pull back to a designated safe zone
2 Push the button
3 Watch the mushrooms grow/glow
4 Walk Away
It's obvious that would have been the smart strategy from the beginning. Build strength while not providing any reason at all for the U.S. Military to be there. No attacks at all, on the military or civilian populations. Let the Americans declare victory and pull out, then attack from a position of strength. Repeat as often as necessary.
I thought these guys were supposed to take the long view of history?
The speech was for the progressive, leftist, liberal socialist pacifist Dems in the nation. The Islamofascists are waiting with bated breath and laughter as this naif fumbles around. No word of VICTORY. How did our own voters put this naif in the WH and will the lemmings wake up in 2010 to un-elect as many Dems as possible? Even McCain got it today as he grilled Hil and Gates. Even Salon got it and hated getting it.
end the war in 2011, just in time for the libs to fall in love with obammie all over again for the election.
