That enormous body of scientific evidence has been put under a microscope by climate sceptics after last month's release online of hacked emails sent by respected researchers at the climate research unit of the University of East Anglia.

Well, no, it hasn't. That's part of the reason it's a controversy - these academics have been stonewalling the FOIAs of two countries, conspiring to silence and marginalize critics and to cover up the evidence that they had. Had the data been given the consideration it's due, especially given the immensity of the expense of the actions demanded, we wouldn't be having this conversation now.
