The U.S. labor market improved markedly in November, with the unemployment rate falling back to 10% and job losses shrinking to the lowest level in nearly two years, the Labor Department reported Friday. Nonfarm payrolls dropped by a seasonally adjusted 11,000 in November, the fewest since December 2007.

WTF??!! When I first read
This Article that Drudge was linked to - the story clearly read that unemployment for November was 10.2 - unchanged from October!! Then I read this, and was going to go back and post that story that said unemployment was unchanged from October, and I discovered that the Yahoo story had been edited and now reads that unemployment has fallen! Did anyone else happen to see the Yahoo story Drudge linked to before they changed what it said?

“So 10.2% improved to 10% is NOW a remarkable improvement.”
For a dictatorship, it’s about right.

As Rush said, don't trust any numbers coming out of this White House. They are fudging them to look better than they really are.
Clintonesque (or worse).

Probably as a result of seasonal hiring for the Holidays or the same kind of creative data manipulation practiced by the climategate hoaxers.

These numbers are false. I suppose in December the numbers will unexpectedly rise.
Wait until January, it will even be worse once the Christmas help get dumped.

Call me skeptical. Most analysts, who are never right, predicted well over a 100 thousand and the number comes in at 10% of that number? Something very fishy!
That said, if it is indeed true, good news....I guess.

Does anyone have the numbers for the month on November for the last 10 years. I thought hiring always went up in Nov for the Holiday retail and then the layoffs hit by the same % in January?

Let me get this straight.
5% unemployment a few years ago was the “Worst Economy Since Hoover” but 10% is a “marked improvement?”

You get what you pay for. When you pay 99 weeks of unemployment benefits, you get long term unemployment. Why work when the FedGov is paying you to be at leisure?

” Wait until January, it will even be worse once the Christmas help get dumped. “
Unless they’ve changed the laws in the past few years (I haven’t kept track), Christmas temps don’t accumulate enough ‘points’ to qualify for unemployment when they get laid off - so even though the employment is ‘temporary’, they drop off the employment rolls permanently....

It will probably drop again in December with the seasonal job uptick. The one to look at will be January’s.
