In Denmark: Researchers Debunk Global Warming and Sea Level Rise

December 3, 2009 (LPAC) — Welcome to Denmark, where two of the nation's three major newspapers, and one of the two national TV networks have run significant coverage questioning the climate change hysteria during the past few days.

The national TV network, DR, interviewed two solar researchers, Henrik Svensmark, internationally known for his research showing how the mediation of cosmic rays by solar activity is controlling the climate, and Christoffer Karoff, a Danish solar researcher specializing in asteroseismology.

When the host asked Svensmark about the claims of global warming, he replied: "They have put science aside." He said that there has been global cooling during the past 10 years, and he linked that to the low solar activity. He also said that the future temperature of the world will prove who is right.

Karoff stressed that the return of sunspot activity to a maximum on the 11-year cycle has been overdue for two years. Low sunspot activity correlates with cooling periods. Many solar researchers now believe there will be a deep solar minimum, equivalent to the medieval low-temperature period when the Oresund strait separating Sweden and Denmark froze over, allowing Swedish troops to cross on the ice and attack Copenhagen.

Today's Jyllands-Posten had an article debunking claims about sea level rise from melting ice caps. One of the world's most knowledgeable ice researchers, Peder Steffensen, from the Niels Bohr Institute, states: "The oceans can not simply rise two meters by the year 2100." The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) research leader Jens Hesselbjerg Christensen is quoted, "The report from the UNEP is unserious, because it is total speculation. A two-meter rise of the world's oceans is unrealistic over 100 years, according to my knowledge." He says that even if the world temperature really rose by 6-10 degrees, it would take 600-1,000 years to melt all of the Greenland icecap.

As Sailer has recently noted, the Los Angelos glitterati is not putting much into the seas will rise and flood the Earth scenario because beach front property in LA is holding its value.

The many threads of this deceit is just mind boggling. It reminds me of the Nano stuff when it started but never got viral as the climate change. I like the quote from the Club of Rome yesterday. They decided to use the environment as the weapon to attack humanity. Very cleaver marketing types.

Scientific data and records and who reads them and how.

It is easier said by an ignorant Redneck like myself.

Global Warming caused by man is Bullsh_ _ Just another scheme to rip off the taxpayer.

Great interviews, and they may have more significance than they appear. What better way than to try to crawl out of Climategate than to say the scientists underestimated the effects of the sunspots as a diversion?

“...it would take 600-1,000 years to melt all of the Greenland icecap.”

Works for me. I’ll just sit back and wait to see if reality matches speculation. That’ll make a HUGE dent in my popcorn stockpile.

Allowing Swedish troops to cross on the ice and attack Copenhagen.

Voting YES for a rematch, preferably this week.

No, it won't. If this interglacial follows the pattern of the previous interglacials, there is going to be a little more warming before we begin the descent into the next ice age. Of course, within that very large cycle there will be medium size cycles, like the Little Ice Age, and short term cycles. We really don't know today how long the present cool trend might last.

The correct question is what drives these cycles, not will it get warmer. And the answer to that is not man made CO2 emissions.

Might take longer than that, I posted this a few days ago:

The history and recovery of the P-38 Glacier Girl is pretty telling about AGW and melting ice caps. In July 1942 she landed in southern Greenland and in 1992 she was recovered from beneath 268 feet of ice. That fact is probably too difficult for the "scientists" to grasp.

Likewise on the East coast, a two meter rise would probably force the evacuation of Myrtle Beach along with much of the rest of coastal South Carolina but nobody seems eager to move inland yet.

Abandon Manhattan should be the rallying cry for those happy AGW warriors, or Carbon Tax or “Water World” your choice.

“Global Warming caused by man is Bullsh_ _ Just another scheme to rip off the taxpayer.”

I would phrase it this way: “Global Warming caused by man is Pelosi. Just another scheme to rip off the taxpayer.” Otherwise, I fully agree!

Allowing Swedish troops to cross on the ice and attack Copenhagen.

That was more than hundred years ago in less salt water!

I am born in the city Esbjerg on the west coast of Denmark out to the North Sea. When I was a little boy, in 1941 I think, we had a very cold winter and I remember we could walk across the frozen water from Esbjerg to the Island of Fano without being vet and real salt water!!

The North Sea island of Fanø, developed from a sandbank in the sea, lies off the coast of South Jutland opposite the port of Esbjerg. With its miles of sandy beaches it has become a popular holiday resort. During the holiday season there are ferries every half hour from Esbjerg; the crossing takes about 20 minutes.!!!
