Advocacy group drops its support for Lou Dobbs

A political organization that opposes illegal immigration announced Thursday that it will no longer support commentator and former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs.

After being a vocal critic of proposals for federal amnesty for illegal immigrants, Dobbs appeared to soften his stance late last month in an interview with Telemundo, a Spanish-language television network.

Dobbs told Telemundo he is one of the Latino community's "greatest friends."

"What isn't working is a penalty to those who are in this country illegally for whom we can both be building a bridge to the future in which there is legalization and at the same time constructing an environment in which everyone

MEMO TO LOU DOBBS: A true conservative would adopt the principal that your opinion does not change just because you move to a different chair.

Hold-fast to principle: your friends will be impressed; your opponents will be stymied. If you are right, all good people will bless, surround, and support you.

Lou changed his tune after the LaRaza types put a bullet through his house and almost murdered his wife. This is the way the left operates, the unions, the WH, and the racist groups like the KKK, LaRaza, Southernpoverty law center, the black panthers, etc.....

There is no justice as long as we work independently - once enough people get fed up then real change will come......

There are a few truisms of Mexican immigration that need to be examined. But before then, there are those who hold unrealistic and destructive views, who shouldn’t be part of the debate both because what they want will not happen, and it is rejected by the overwhelming majority of Americans. Those two groups say either “throw them all out”, or “let anyone who wants to enter the US do so.”

So what is it that the rest of us want, as a sensible alternative?

To start with, we want and can deal with hard working immigrants, who seek to improve themselves, integrate into our society, and neither drain our public support coffers nor engage in criminal enterprises, as long as we don’t get too many immigrants too quickly.

This is a very reasonable and practical discriminator. Just by looking at what they have done in the US, we can tell if they are “good people” or “bad people”.

The “good people” should not have to go through a 20 year process for admission to the US, while remaining outside the US. This would be intolerable to anyone. And the “bad people” should not only be immediately deported, after serving any due criminal sentence, but they should be barred from reentry, so that if they return to the US, they will face many years in a penitentiary, before being deported again.

Most Americans would be comfortable with this, at least as far as the “bad people” go. The disagreement is with the “good people”.

This is far more problematic. Often in the US, immigrant families will be mixed, with members who are both legal and illegal. To start with, if a child has been raised in the US, and passed through our educational system, the likelihood is that they are deeply integrated with our society, and to deport them would be as cruel as deporting any US citizen child to a foreign country.

Such families, if they are of good character, need some expedited way to become fully US citizens. This is to the advantage of the US, because they will pay taxes and even penalties; and other citizens, because they will be licensed and insured; and to their advantage, as they can no longer be exploited by those who do not wish to pay a full wage or treat them fairly.

However, young, unmarried people without the benefits of family also need some way to prove themselves. And this way exists, with enlistment in the US military. If they can successfully complete an enlistment, they show great promise of being excellent citizens, and should be able to get citizenship with all due speed.

The remainder, who are willing to work hard, need something along the lines of a monitored corporate employer-host. That is, that a corporation will sponsor them, under supervision to insure they are treated fairly, follow the rules, and continue a process of citizenship while employed. This is so that while supporting themselves and their family, they are going through the citizenship process in the US.

This makes a lot more sense than demanding they stay out of the US while going through the process. If they are good enough to be let in at all, as far as that corporation is concerned, they are good enough to become citizens without having to leave the US, which defeats their purpose of becoming citizens in the first place.

So how does this program begin? By vigorously deporting the “bad people”, even if they have lived here for years. If they suck down welfare, have not learned English, are not employed, continue to live in Mexican ghettos, return frequently to Mexico, maintain ties in Mexico, etc., they need to live in Mexico, not the US.

Only once they are gone, can we have a sensible policy for reviewing the status of the “good people”, with an eye to their harmonious integration in an orderly manner.
