Palin to face another ethics battle By Tony Romm - 12/05/09 09:35 AM ET
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) faced yet another ethics complaint on Friday: This time, for allegedly using state resources "for partisan political purposes" during the 2008 campaign.
Under state law, elected officials may not "use or authorize the use of state funds, facilities, equipment, services, or another government asset or resource" for campaigning, stumping or politicking.
But Palin, argues Andree McLeod -- a local activist who has filed many ethics complains against the former Alaska governor -- sought political advice from her staff and asked her office to help her arrange media interviews or phone conversations leading up to Election Day, all using their government-issued e-mail addresses.
According to the Alaska Department of Administration, the use of e-mail is key: That medium, too, counts as a state resource, meaning Palin's e-mail exchanges with her gubernatorial staff about national campaign strategies could have violated the state's election law.
"State employees are prohibited from using the state e-mail system or using other state equipment, including fax machines, telephones, computers, or copiers, for partisan political purposes," the department's commissioner told The Huffington Post. "However, if you receive such a message, you may respond that Alaska law forbids your use of state equipment for partisan political purposes and ask that the sender not send you further messages concerning campaign activities."
Palin has long struggled to battle back ethics claims stemming from her tenure as governor -- an expensive problem, her allies note, that in part triggered her unexpected resignation earlier this year.
Nevertheless, many of those chargers have since been dropped.
Soros? ACORN? Planned Parenthood?
Dunno, but Barnum & Bailey is picking up the tab for her air freight. ;)
Andree the Gadfly is about to get swatted, courtesy of Sarah’s newfound wealth, which ironically, the gadfly helped generate through her frivolous complaints.
In short, the gadfly is an obsessive-compulsive democRat office seeker who harasses her elected officials whenever she does not get her way. Lately, like that punk Levi, she has allowed herself to be used as a tool for Axelrod's minions to try and destroy Palin politically and her family financially.
Whos paying the freight on the lovely Andrees legal costs?
Don’t know that she has much legal cost, but don’t know who is paying. I doubt it cost much if anything to make an ethics filing. It will cost the state some dollars to investigate and Palin money if it gets to that stage.
You obviously did not keep up on what was going on in Alaska during Palin's battles with the "Alaska bloggers," including Gadfly McLeod, or else you would know that they colluded with Obama operatives to misuse Alaska's ethics laws to destroy Palin both politically and financially. Read her book or simply search the web for "Alaska Bloggers" + Palin.!
Current Alaska law does not allow that, while conversely, the target of the complaints (i.e. Palin) is required to pay for her own legal expenses.
So it is the Falafel lady.... After reading the book I thought the name sounded familiar...
What does all that have to do with the charges of this current filing? I have no idea if Palin used any state equipment as alledged in this complaint. Do you?
Read her book...this is nothing more than a continuation of the gadfly’s nonsense.
LOL
Thanks for the chuckle
I see you managed to capture her good side. ;)
Some fun reading on Andree. She and Palin were once friends. Oh, and,,, she wants to ban boobs in government offices!

Does her book deny these specific allegations? All politicians face these attempts but not all have them thrown at them. Witness Tom DeLay’s downfall. It happens like it or not, good or bad, right or wrong. I”m not sure how the laws ought to be written to protect politicians from these frivious filings while yet protecting the citizens from abuse from the politician but there should be something that could be done if nothing more than sanctions against the filer if proven false.
Just curious. How exactly do you translate “Even had I done what you say I did, and I didn’t, by the way...I quit four months ago. And we lost that election, in case you hadn’t noticed. Go **** yourself.” into legalese?
At some point, enough really is enough.
Yes. It seems that some hairbag can file as many complaints, spurious or not, as they desire with no consequences to themselves. There has to be a better solution to the problem than allowing unlimited, unproven complaints. I read that the previous complaints had cost her about 500k to defend against.
New Democrat strategy, If a Conservative hasn’t violated any laws, make new ones that they have violated.
When to we get to stop putting up with this, folks?
