Huckabee Was Correct and America Needs Such Principled Leadership
American Daily Review ^ | 12/06/2009 | Yomin Postelnik

There is currently a move underway to discredit Mike Huckabee over the rightful pardoning of a then 16 year old who had been sentenced to 108 years on robbery charges. I make this statement as someone who fully supports the death penalty for murderers and for child rapists, but also as someone who recognizes that getting tough on crime means fostering sensible rehabilitation, not turning first time offenders into violent career criminals.

Yes, Governor Huckabee pardoned more people than most governors do. That’s because Gov. Huckabee isn’t thoughtless, callous or cruel and recognizes that public service actually entails service to the public. Sentencing a 16 year old to months of hard labor generally serves as the greatest deterrent (except in cases of murder and the like). By contrast, sentencing a teen to years in prison has almost inevitably bred nothing more than a violent menaces to society.

When you mention another FReeper in a post you are supposed to ping them to the post. That is another long-standing FR courtesy. Apparently you have no ethical foundation at all.

Again you bring my name into a post without pinging me.

IMO there is a pattern here. This guy uses FR for his own agenda & then insults & harasses FReepers. I think he is the type that it is better to ignore. He is right & anybody else is wrong. He gets off on this so I plan to ignore him as I think he is a troll. And rude too. He has been here long enough to know that you ping people when using their name. I didn't ping him as I am not using his name since I am ignoring him.

I think the histrionics are getting tiring.......

You could simply ask to be pinged instead of judging my “ethical foundation” or lack thereof - over a ping!

Either way, I’m quite bored of this pissing war and you apparently have nothing of substance to discuss, so I wish you well and hope you keep trashing me as you wish.

Yes, responding to TigerEyes’ inanities, insults and hysterics with comic retorts is now “harassing TigersEye.” Whatever, I hope you’re having fun.

And TigerEyes - take solace in that I pinged you, thereby redeeming my lack of ethical foundation.

The radical Islamic recruiters prey on those who have been given long sentences. The boredom and despair those sentences breed suits their recruitment tactics very nicely. It doesn’t help society.

Problem with harsh sentences is that eventually they’re released. There’s also a reason for huge recidivism and many studies have shown the effectiveness of alternative - i.e. hard labor sentences.

Given your long history of unethical conduct you will need many years of rehabilitation. Lack of remorse is not a good sign.

Show is one study that supports that assertion.

Once again you are being completely dishonest. I posted time and again many substantive issues to discuss and when you disingenuously made that false accusation before I put them all into one post here. You are just intellectually incapable of responding to them or too intellectually dishonest to acknowledge them.

I certainly don't care whether you are bored or not.

Are you referring to the atheist nut? He went ballistic when someone I know found out he was ripping off cartoon dealers. I’ve let his post stay high when my name’s googled (instead of putting up a ton of youtube videos and the like) because his lunacy is entertaining. Btw, he’s a big Obama fan. No comparison to TigersEye who’s right on most things of importance.

I think you should look at the sequence of the thread. The first page basically reads like this:

me - statement

Tiger - You’re full of... and you have no ethics... and you lie. And here’s a bio!!!

me - answer, statements

Tiger - more of the same

After about 5 posts, I fight back. Tiger or not.

Disagree all of want. Call me a liar, moron and whatever else and no need to cry when I call his bluff.

Buddy,

Aside from the fact that I can point to about 50 posts of yours in which “you don’t copy me” - something you virtually accuse me of being Satan himself for not doing for you. I already responded to your inane bio post. You had nothing of substance to add. So have a good night and find another hobby.

“you don’t copy me” - something you virtually accuse me of being Satan himself for not doing for you.

Being that no post of mine comes even close to that it is particularly ironic that you would accuse me of hysterics. LOLOL

You are one major Drama Queen.

So have a good night and find another hobby.

Why don't you find your arse? Use both hands. When you do you'll find your head.

Here is an excellent and highly relevant post from another thread.

One other damning fact against Huckabee is the truth to his lie that nobody from the court or law enforcement objected to Clemmons clemency petition. That is a flat out lie.

Clemmons clemency package has been released and available for all to read; I guess Huckabee didn’t think that would happen.

Clemmons original 108 year sentence had been restructured by Judge Marion G. Humphrey of the 6th Circuit Appeals Court of Arkansas.

The full court heard Clemmons appeal and upheld both the original sentence and the convictions. Judge Humphrey who has a reputation for being “soft on crime” held additional hearings on Clemmons sentence and restructured his original consecutive sentence to concurrent. This had the effect of turning 108 years into 60.

When Huckabee’s office received Clemmons clemency petition the ONLY person that was contacted and given a chance to object to clemency was Judge Humphrey. Although she had already reduced Clemmons sentence, she agreed with the clemency petition.

The original prosecutor, judge and officers involved were NOT contacted. When they learned that Clemmons was being considered for clemency they contacted the Governors office to object - their objections were ignored.

That’s very different from what I’ve read.

Here’s a link that tells a very different story. Seems like someone with an agenda, or who can’t follow the facts, is distorting key aspects of what happened in an effort to smear - and I’m talking about whoever wrote that, not you.

Of note, the piece is generally anti-Huckabee, but shows the account given by that poster to be a total fabrication
