President Obama did acknowledge the success of the surge in Iraq and used some of its lessons to develop a plan in Afghanistan, the head of Central Command said Sunday.
Gen. David Petraeus, who is in charge of military operations throughout the Middle East and Central Asia -- regions containing Iraq and Afghanistan -- said the president asked him how troops worked to secure the population and achieve cooperation with various Iraqi factions, and held several lengthy sessions to review the principles that could be applied in Afghanistan.
During his presidential campaign, Obama frequently discussed how he strongly opposed the war in Iraq and the surge of 2007.

Hey POS, be a man and give praise the the one man who stood against all opinion (or certainly most) and enacted the surge: his name is George W. Bush.
Afghanistan is a tribal society.
That means if the tribal leaders don't respect you as a person, you can't win.
They're tough people who don't take any BS from anybody.
The problem is you're an unmitigated coward.

I think this is a way of blaming Bush if zero’s half-assed plan fails...
President Obama last night ordered 30,000 more troops into Afghanistan, to fight the Taliban, but on an 18-month timetable. In a related story, the Taliban announced they’re on a 19-month timetable.
The Russians could’nt do it with 100,000 troops and the
latest military technology!
