American college prof develops cell-phone tool to help illegals cross border

Illegal aliens crossing the U.S.-Mexico border now have a cell phone tool to chart the best route, find food and locate people who will help them enter the country – courtesy of a professor at a state-funded university.

Ricardo Dominguez, a University of California, San Diego tenured visual arts professor and activist, designed the Transborder Immigrant Tool, an application much like a global-positioning system used in cars, to help illegals find the best locations for food, water and groups to assist them as they sneak into America.

Dominguez is also co-founder of the Electronic Disturbance Theater, or EDT, a group that developed virtual-sit-in technologies in 1998 in solidarity with the Zapatista communities in Chiapas, Mexico. He also helped set up a website-jamming network called the FloodNet system to attack official sites of the U.S. Border Patrol, White House, G8, Mexican embassy and others.

Isn’t it illegal to aid and abet a crime?

Why does Ricardo Dominguez still have a job at a public US University?

ICE should be using the same APP to find and arrest the illegals. He just made it easier to find them.

And the department not only pays him to make illegal immigration easier, but brags about it: http://visarts.ucsd.edu/node/view/491/322. My guess is he’s making something in the $75K range, plus benefits.

His recent Electronic Disturbance Theater project with Brett Stabaum, Micha Cardenas and Amy Sara Carroll the *Transborder Immigrant Tool* (a GPS cellphone safety net tool for crossing the Mexico/U.S border was the winner of "Transnational Communities Award", this award was funded by *Cultural Contact*, Endowment for Culture Mexico - U.S. and handed out by the U.S. Embassy in Mexico), also funded by CALIT2 and two Transborder Awards from the UCSD Center for the Humanities

My emphasis. So an award for an aid in breaking American law was handed out at our own embassy?

Why could his tools not be used by muzzie terrorists?

Given Kalifornia’s financial state and in light of this, is there any reason not to push UCSD to the head of the line as far as budget-cutting goes..?

I am fairly sure this man needs to go to jail, and right away.

Exactly. If you know of groups putting water on the border, stake them out and call the Border Patrol whenever illegals arrive. Water stations are effective lures.

I have an app called “Trapster” on my iPhone that uses GPS and users reporting to let me known when I am going to drive into an area with speed traps.

I do not think the makers of Trapster are breaking any laws.

Ricardo Dominguez probably made some mistakes in his program. Those mistakes will mislead people to their deaths. The heirs and assigns will SUE HIM BLIND.
