Oh, and what I meant was this. If the FTA said “Tedd gave us a report”, that would be a 1st-hand account from the FTA that Tedd gave them a report.
But in fact, it was Debbie saying that Tedd gave the FTA a report. So that is a “2nd-hand” account from Debbie saying that Tedd said he gave the report to the FTA.
I hope now it is clear that Debbie saying Tedd gave something to the FTA is further removed than the FTA saying they received a report from Tedd.
