Gads, now I’m so confused. I know Bush acted like he had been “podded” in his second term ....and now that you posted it, I DO remember something about this.
What the hell is really going on....is my question.
Well, if you’re already confused, don’t google “dan burton john ashcroft”. That will particularly give you heartburn. Ashcroft refused to turn over documents to Burton’s committee.
Here’s a Google search set up for your review, if you would like to see what I’m talking about.

On some of the links, particularly the first one, you may have to scroll down to find the Burton/Ashcroft subject matter because it’s somewhat dated.

I looked back to see if every President passes new Executive Privilege language. It doesn’t look like they do.
Bush evidently thought there needed to be some adjustments made. I honestly don’t know why. I didn’t agree with him. His protection of papers for up to twelve years made me angry at the time. I wanted Clinton to be investigated.
I do believe presidents have some legitimate right to Executive Privilege. They couldn’t get advice, and we couldn’t have secrets if all the president’s communications and discussions were open to review.
On the other hand, they shouldn’t be able to hide things if there is a question of impropriety. Even then there may be overlapping concerns, but you catch my drift.
