Rep. Grayson tells Cheney to 'STFU' By Eric Zimmermann - 12/09/09 06:02 PM ET
Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) has done it again.
Appearing on MSNBC's "Hardball" Wednesday night, the Florida Democrats used a colorful acronym to respond to Dick Cheney's criticisms of President Obama.
"You know, on the internet there's an acronym that's used to apply to situations like this. It's called 'STFU.' I don't think I can say that on the air, but I think you know what that means," Grayson said.
That acronym is short for "Shut the f**k up."
Last night, Cheney had lashed out at President Obama's decision to give Khalid Sheikh Mohammed a civilian trial in federal court.
"He'll be as important or more important than Osama bin Laden," Cheney said about the plotter of 9/11. "And we will have made it possible. We will have given him that platform, that opportunity, to come here and there is absolutely no need to do that."
Cheney also accused Obama of giving "aid and comfort to the enemy."
Grayson recalled that it was the Bush administration who was close to the Saudi royal family.
"I remember Bush Junior kissing Prince Abdullah on the cheek, and then holding his hand for an extended period of time," Grayson snapped. "Maybe if he'd let him get to second base, then gasoline would be a dollar a gallon."
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) slammed Grayson's colorful remarks.
The foul mouthed man-child from Orlando is at it again, taking to the airwaves to bring shame to struggling Central Florida families who want jobs, not nut-jobs," said Andy Sere, spokesman for the NRCC. "But speaking of bases, Alan Graysons constituents surely find themselves wishing his parents had never gotten past first.
I’m with you, KJC1, that the NRCC should not have responded in kind. I disagree with you that it was gutter and not witty, though. Sere’s comeback was, imho, funny—but all wrong coming from the NRCC.
Republicans are trainable. They just need the right instructor. Like....say.....Sarah Palin!
Ok. You’re entitled to your opinion.
My answer to that would have been, yeah, but Bush isn’t the one that bowed to every king, emperor and 2-bit leader in the known world. That would be O-as-in-zero-BAMA.
And at least under Bush, due to his “friendship” with the Saudis....where he announced he was opening up domestic drilling again... gas prices went back down right before the election.
Did we ever really find out what caused the sharp and rapid spike in gas prices in ‘08? So much has happened since, I can’t even remember.
You’re emailing Grayson? Since he likes acronyms, tell him to KMA while he’s packing up his office stuff.
No more playing nice with these DemocRat morons. Look where playing nice has gotten us so far.
Dennis Miller is still cool.
Yep, gotta get it outta my system...e-mails work. I wish the idiot would respond. Next tea party in DC I am gonna park outside his office.
I really dislike this idiot. Thanks for writing.
This caused Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) to comment, "Is this news to you that this guys one fry short of a Happy Meal?" Such a comment from a fellow Democrat speaks loudly about Grayson's standing with his own party.
It was also Grayson that described the Republican's health care plan as one that would cause Americans to "die quickly," and that "Their idea of health care reform would be to allow you to take your gun to the doctor's office." His shoot from the hips rhetoric has his Orlando constituents satisfied that they have a congressman who tells it like it is. "If our plan's so bad, where's yours?" Grayson said from the House floor. "You can't fight something with nothing."
However, Grayson's effort to attract attention is wearing thin. If we think the Orlando area is amused by their congressman, this cartoon sums up their growing embarrassment with him:
Florida “My Congressman is Nuts Ping”
Target ahead - Grayson needs to go!
It sure seems this places a target on his election, if there was any question before? LOL
STFU...hmmmm, Oh! Single Term F*$% You, Grayson!
This spokesman can't possibly be a 'Pubby...can he?
The Loudmouth does it again!
If he really wants another 7.5 minutes, it should be in a frog march.
Help us Floridians to 'Pink Slip' Grayson sending a donation and spreading the word about Dan Fanelli!
The “Christmas In The Park” event tomorrow at Lake Eola Park will be going on from 11:00AM till evening! It would be a great chance for you to see and meet Dan Fanelli!
Stop by the Dan Fanelli Campaign booth if you can. :)
Excellent!
Nice retort by the GOP spokesman.
Grayson’s comment on Bush should be the headline. Telling Cheney to shut up is tame compared to that!
