No Option?

Health Reform: Senate Democrats have dropped the government-run "public option" — but not really. That serves as a warning: No one can predict the final bill that Senate and House conferees will come up with.

After secret talks between five liberal Democratic senators and five centrist Democratic senators, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced that the infamous government option that would compete with (experts say destroy) the private health insurance industry is history.

Instead, the federal government's Office of Personal Management would oversee a series of national insurance policies that we are told would be "administered by private companies." But if what private insurers come up with is not to the liking of OPM bureaucrats, a government option will magically appear from up their sleeve.

On top of that, as a salve to the left, something like 3 million people would be added to Medicare — which is already going broke — by letting those as young as 55 "buy their way into" it.

In a strong sign that what you see is not what we will get, one of the secret negotiators, liberal Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., actually publicly opposed the deal he just made. "I do not support proposals that would replace the public option in the bill with a purely private approach," Feingold said.

If they take out the public option, what is the trillion dollar price tag for?

In other words why does ‘reform’ need to cost a TRILLION DAMN DOLLARS for nothing new except 123 new government agencies?

This is going to cause the country to revolt. This and their cap and tax and job killing agenda. Sad thing is that is exactly what Obamaknob is hoping for. I just hope the military is on the right side.

Every measure that has been dropped from this bill will be restored when the final bills are reconciled after passage or will be ammended after the final bill is passed. This bill must be defeated.

At this point it is just a tax bill. Taxes are to be collected for 4 years before any health providing is done, except, for the regulatory apparatus. As these will be unspent taxes, they will spend them for something else, there are votes to buy. What I find amazing is the Fascists don’t seem to understand that the Republican will be repealing the bill before it ever takes effect.
