AZ-Sen. 2010: Arpaio-Hayworth Fundraiser a Preview of Future Campaigns? (anti-RINO alliance)
CQ Politics ^ | 2009-12-01 | Emily Cadei

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and former Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R) -- two of conservatives' favorite anti-illegal immigration firebrands and potential 2010 candidates for statewide office in Arizona -- have teamed up to raise more than $100,000 as part of a holiday party being held Dec. 5.

A recent poll from Rasmussen Reports showed Arpaio leading all comers in the Arizona governor's race, while Hayworth is in a statistical tie with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in a hypothetical primary match-up.

Both men have been coy about their intentions but any sort of electoral alliance between the two would strike fear into the hearts of centrist Republicans in the state.

Their holiday party, hosted by Arpaio at the home of GOP strategist and PR guru Jason Rose in Paradise Valley, Ariz., is raising money for Hayworth's Freedom in Truth Trust, dedicated to helping pay off the former congressman's legal fees. Hayworth lost his 2006 congressional race amidst questions about his ties to disgraced lobbyist Jack Ambramoff.

On his Web site, Hayworth said he still has "outstanding legal bills that total in the hundreds of thousands of dollars," due to the "false charge of corruption."

Rose told CQ Politics that Arpaio and Hayworth are "longtime friends and ideological soul mates on the issue of illegal immigration" and that Arpaio would support Hayworth should he decide to take on McCain.

If Arizonans don’t dump McCain this time they will have to face the prospect of McCain’s daughter running for the Senate six years from now.

Going from a plane crash to a train wreck. I hope Arizona is smarter than that.

Just remember one thing.....Karl Rove threw J.D. out of the White House at a political function, and told him to never return. This was because he went against Bush on illegal immigration, and amnesty with chain migration. Then Bush/Rove cut him off at re election time, and even spread lies about him to the media. If you want to know why I despise Bush and Rove, this is one of the reasons.

Anyone have any idea where Hayworth stands on polygamists FLDS? I don’t think McCain was ever willing to take them on....just wondering if Hayworth is or if every Arizona politician is too cowardly to take them on.

Good reminder of the depth of the rot that the GWB lead Rinos’ support of Amnesty portrayed. IMO this was the #1 reason for the loss of Congress in 2006 and the election of BO was only secured by the RINO Amnesty loving McCain being the nom. This history always gives be heartburn!

Got a link to that? I believe something like that would have been all over FR, and I don't remember it.

Then Bush/Rove cut him off at re election time, and even spread lies about him to the media.

How about a little proof on that one too?

In fact, Hayworth didn't want GWB's support.

Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-Ariz.) told radio show host Don Imus yesterday that he does not want the president's help: 'No, not at this time.'

That would have been Tom Tancredo, not Hayworth.

She will try because people like the McCains are so narcisstic they will ignore the fact that people don’t want their kind in government.

FYI, StephenJohnBanker has more credibility than any 10 freepers, and he lives in Arizona and AFAIK, actually knows J.D. Hayworth.

Don't you have some North Koreans somewhere for you to not give a damn about Bert?

I distinctly remember that Karl Rove threw one or the other out, Tancredo or Hayworth, no real difference since both are very anti-Amnesty R’s. It is real clear what the fatazz Rove, GWB, McCain were and are, Traitors one and all.
