Limbaugh vs. McConnell: GOP leader targeted by conservatives
The Hill ^ | 12/10/2009 | Alexander Bolton

Posted on 12/10/2009 5:43:04 AM PST by markomalley

Rush Limbaugh and conservative interest groups are criticizing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for not putting up a strong enough fight to stop the Democratic healthcare legislation.

The conservative talk radio host has questioned McConnell’s strategy a few times on his program this week, joining a chorus of growing critics who say the Senate GOP leader is aiding Democrats by allowing the chamber to debate and vote on amendments.

The groups, as well as some Senate Republicans, would prefer that McConnell raise any and all procedural hurdles to slow the healthcare debate and push it into the midterm-election year.

Aides to McConnell called Limbaugh’s show to explain their tactics, but the conservative pundit did not seem to buy it.

“They are up there adding amendments. There’s no question they’re adding amendments to it. McConnell’s office did call here and say that they are opposing this, so I don’t know if adding amendments is a strategery [sic] to bollix it up and slow it down. But I — I disagree. They just need to say no; there’s nothing wrong with saying no to this!” Limbaugh said Tuesday.

Limbaugh took another shot at Senate Republicans on his show Wednesday.

“The Senate Republican leadership strategy here was flawed because it allowed the Democrats to take the offensive, buy time to work out a deal,” Limbaugh said. “I know a disaster when I see it. And I know that it’s gotta be stopped, and whatever parliamentary steps are available to people ... should have been taken.”

Idots in DC.

The staffers are protecting their jobs and McConnel is holding the music sheets for Obama’s violin as the USA burns.

I have not heard any of this but I do know from experience that “papering” a bill can eventually lead to it’s demise. I’ve seen it done and it was always done by RATs and I always wondered why Republicans did not use the same tactic. Now maybe they are. I don’t know.

Rush is absolutely correct. The weenie pubbies are trying to find a middle ground, rather than kill the bill!

Are the Republicans letting this happen on purpose so they can regain control? I wonder...

Not even the Republicans see that America is coming for them. They think they’re not going to feel the wrath. Ha!

How many seats have been lost under McConnell’s tenure? He seems content to be minority leader.

McConnell has been there too long - he needs to be replaced by a real conservative.

Glad to see Rush and Palin leading the charge against the RINO McConnell, another GOP Senate Leader with less guts than Frist.

They could have required a reading of the bill for starters. It’s only the rules of the Senate.

when I think of the term “leader”, the name “Mitch McConnell” just never comes to mind. Nor his spineless predecessor Frist

Why is America in decline? These men should look in the mirror

Are the Republicans letting this happen on purpose

I have been saying for weeks that the fix was in, that this debate on Abortion and Public Option was all a diversion.

The RINO's sold us out a long time ago. They know that Medicare is unsustainable, they just want the Dem's to take the blame. When they had total control, they did nothing to advance the cause of Conservatism, they let the Courts run roughshod over the peoples rights, when they had the means to stop it, but they didn't.

The only sane conclusion that one can come to, is they are either too stupid to be breathing the same air as the rest of us, or they actually agree with the destructive policies we are pursuing.

It has just been announced from Oslo that his one-ness, his greatness, the all holy, the great chill giver, the islamosocialist muslim-in-chief will shortly announce the RINO czar.

This czar's position will allow him/her to vote for all the membes of the RINO party in both the Senate and House in the event the actual members don't vote correctly.

Mitch McConnel has heartily endorsed the new RINO czar, even without knowing the actual person's name.

He was heard to exclaim just before ducking into the Capital Building executive cafeteria, "NOW, we can all just get along!"

Those spineless twits don't realize that we passed the "middle ground" 50 years ago when Johnson gave us the welfare state. And they wonder why the party isn't getting contributions.

Jim DeMint represents what all senators should be - bold, truthful, and conservative.

It’s so frustrating that people don’t understand why the GOP must be eliminated in order to reverse the tide of socialism. The GOP mindset is locked into retreat. Since the days of Franklin Delano Stalin, the story is the same - the GOP negotiating surrender. Cutting taxes is meaningless if you don’t cut spending and shrink government, and when has the GOP ever done either? It appears that the only thing that will stop government growth, spending and borrowing is for foreigners to cut us off. See the future - look at Argentina. The Republican party is a failure and a fraud. Invest your money elsewhere.

It’s obvious that the Republicans, too, are owned or at least rented by the New World Order.
