From what I gathered, it was the fact that many of the early primary states had open primaries. Many Dems crossed over and voted for McLame to boost him above better GOP candidates, knowing that he was a weak sister.

Huckabee, the snake oil salesman, also contributed in a big way by staying in the race for so long and splitting the GOP voting. If the Huckster had dropped out much earlier, then McLame may have had a chance of winning. ....As bad as that would be, it would STILL be better than what we now have as a president.

I can’t stand Juan McLame because of his left leaning voting and refusal to attack Obama on various issues during the campaign, his support for amnesty for illegal aliens, and much more (like smooching with Lindy Graham on too many liberal issues).

If the GOP wanted a moderate why was Rudy not forefront, he had a better chance of beating Obama.

I disagree with you kindly. I think Huckabee is far better and Romney is the snake oil salesman. If we had to chose.
