Obamas Big Sellout

Barack Obama ran for president as a man of the people, standing up to Wall Street as the global economy melted down in that fateful fall of 2008. He pushed a tax plan to soak the rich, ripped NAFTA for hurting the middle class and tore into John McCain for supporting a bankruptcy bill that sided with wealthy bankers "at the expense of hardworking Americans." Obama may not have run to the left of Samuel Gompers or Cesar Chavez, but it's not like you saw him on the campaign trail flanked by bankers from Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. What inspired supporters who pushed him to his historic win was the sense that a genuine outsider was finally breaking into an exclusive club, that walls were being torn down, that things were, for lack of a better or more specific term, changing.

Then he got elected.

It was comforting to see that alot of people defended the tea partiers.

If you read a little of Taibbi, you might think he is a kindred spirit: He opposes crap and trade, megabanks, and now Obama. But if you read carefully you will see that if he were in charge, things would be worse than under Obama. Those who read the last page will see that he deems Tea Partiers to be uneducated/racist/redneck.

I was referring to the comments section after the article. I have read enough from Matt to see that he is kind of a fareweather friend. I don’t know what to make of him. someone had mentioned that the comments were interestingand upon reading them I noticed there were a lot people speaking very kindly of the tea partiers.

Understood. My post was directed at everyone in the thread, so when I wrote "you" in my post maybe I should have used a different pronoun, like "one."

We can find interesting info in some of Taibbi's writings, but he seems to despise conservatives in general. Do you remember hearing about Playboy's "Hate sex" piece that contained some left wing idiot's fantasies about raping well-known conservative women? The "inspiration" for that article may have come from Taibbi, who wrote some similar smut about Michelle Malkin (while defending Obama's porkulus spending and portraying Tea Party people as ignorant etc.) here:

That is so disgusting. He had disgusting comments in the final page of the obama sell out article too about tea partiers,etc. which is why I said he doesn’t get it yes he did a good job exposing obama’s sell out but he falls far short in understanding why conservatives are disgusted over all with his spending and his redistribution of wealth not only to the acorn types but to the elites who paid him off. The other thing about Taiibi is where was he before the election those things should have been exposed then but it seems they were purposely hushed up.

Thanks for sending me the link for the Matt Tiabbi story. I know what to think of him now, the words “Pig” and “jerk” come to mind! I just haven’t decided which one fits better! :)

I too have truble finding words that describe some of the stuff Taibbi writes.

There are people in this world who may sometimes write things which are insightful and unique, and other times write something that is despicable. When you and I see the evil side of a person that shocks us, even if we liked something they had written before.

Remember Anita Dunn, Obama's ex-WH Communications Director, who said her favorite political philosphers were Mother Teresa and Mao Tse Tung? Dunn is an example of a person who overlooks the evil in a person if that person fits her ideology.

It’s too bad most of “those” people are running the government. My, God, look at some of their appointees. Anita Dunn is actually one of the better ones, you were kind to use her as an example. I guess that is just how the left operates...
