Jenny Sanford announced today that she will file for divorce from embattled South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who admitted in June to an affair with a longtime lover in Argentina.
"I am now filing for divorce," she said in a statement. "This came after many unsuccessful efforts at reconciliation, yet I am still dedicated to keeping the process that lies ahead peaceful for our family."
Sanford moved out of the South Carolina governor's mansion with the couple's four children in August.
"I remain thankful to so many across this state and nation for their words of encouragement and prayers during this difficult time," she added. "Please know the boys and I are doing well and are blessed with the incredible support of friends and family and bolstered by our faith and the unfailing love of our God above."

Betcha the Governor’s wife make out pretty good on this too.
It’s a shame when these things happen. More of a shame that they qualify as ‘real’ news that everyone “needs” to hear and talk about.
It’s a real pity. I thought Mark Sanford was remorseful and already reconciled with his wife. I also thought she forgave him and was willing to let bygones be bygones. Apparently not.
Now the Gov can be with his soul mate.

Ross Perot put this in perspective when a question was raised regarding his attitude toward cheating:

Jenny Sanford sure seems like a class act to me.
She might get every things else.
I feel sorry for her and four fairly young children. He can start over, she and the kids should have it all. IMHO
And a lot of people would point out that in the Bible, the Isrealites were far better off under Judges than under Kings with their extra-marital affaris, rapes, and blasphemies.
I think David, Solomon, et al were Yaheweh’s punishment on the Israelites for demanding Kings like the nations around them.
She comes from a monied family, I think that her personal worth is more than his.
