" I don’t see a lot of threads denigrating people who are anti-Darwinists. If there are, show me."

The threads are not posted for that purpose, they are posted to educate people that evolution is not supported by true science, but that angers the darwinists, and they attack the threads to prevent the facts from being presented. There are usually four or five of these threads every day. That is what this thread is about, not people like you.

I am also a Christian who thinks “evolution” has been scientifically demonstrated.

Most Christians think similarly. The problem here on FR is the zeal of one, small breed of creationists - the Young Earth creationists, who cannot reconcile science with faith (as the mainstream Christianity managed to do several hundred years ago, on the occasion of geocentrism). It's sad that the FR founder has subscribed to the view that this FRINGE belief, professed only by some FRINGE Protestant sects, defines one's conservatism and faith, and denies Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Anglicans, Mormons etc. the name of Christians.

I wonder what ever happened to him?"

As Randall Terry would say, "He's On Fire for Jesus now!"

“Most Christians think similarly”

Most Christians may not be YEC but I don’t think there is a consensus of Christians who believe that God used evolution.

You are welcome to your belief that God used evolution. We are welcome to our belief that God created in six days and that the earth is young.

Your belief against YEC neither calls your conservatism nor your faith into question.

However, attacking me for MY beliefs DOES call your conservatism into question.

You are however welcome to debate me and try to prove your point.

There is nothing in my faith that needs to be reconciled with science. I believe in operational science.

Reread your post and then ask yourself if you are not hostile to my belief. I am not hostile to yours, you are welcome to it and I will gladly debate you about it. Although I would like to keep it civil instead of things like zeal and can’t reconcile faith and science. That is a personal attack and adds nothing to the discussion.

Blessing in Christ and Merry Christmas.

>>”How do you know what JR means?

Maybe you should just read what he wrote:

JR:
>>”And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us.”

Did he say: “Don’t THINK a certain way?” Did he say: “Don’t BELIEVE a certain way?” He did not. He said he didn’t want Dartwinists to try to hijack HIS site.

And, yet, that very same thread, you DID hijack; first in self pity, then for Darwin, and now, trying to cast doubt on the Bible. Which baited in your co-religionists and your opposition. So, you did EXACTLY what JimRob asked us NOT to do!

We should be ashamed. Our great nation is teetering on the brink, and we waste our energy snarling at each other.

“If we do not hang together, we will most assuredly hang separately.”

Cat, one thing I learned early in life is that "he who holds the gold makes the golden rule". In this case, it is a website. As we all know, you are welcome to post an opinion on here about anything. We like kitties. If you think this place is the wrong place for you, then there's only one thing to do...

Don't let it hit you in the ass!

I am not attacking your BELIEFS. I am attacking the ‘creation science’, which: 1. perverts science, 2. perverts Christian faith.

Every religion you named declares that Mormonism is not Christian.

You can look at it from another point of view. A website is like your house. It's yours, no question. But if you invite someone, you usually want to make this someone comfortable (the quest, of course, has responsibilities too).

“FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.”

- Which God? The God of the Jews, the Christians, or the Muslims?

For those who study Scripture, each group worships someone different.

Mormonism definitely has some strange (to me) elements, but I don't have any problems with calling it a Christian denomination. For the record: I am a Catholic, and I live in Utah.

Your Pope and your Catholic Church are very clear on the matter, they do not consider Mormonism Christian.

But surely not fundamentalist!

Yeah, 'cause then we'd all be dress wearing, no swearing, KJVer's. The women among us, that is.

That is your opinion. I think that evolution perverts science and that trying to fit evolution in the Bible perverts the Christian faith. I do not believe everything that I hear coming from creation scientists just like I don’t believe everything I hear coming from ANY person. Because we are people and are fallible.

If you are attacking a young earth creationist viewpoint, you are attacking my viewpoint. Keep it civil. If you evidence to present do that. However saying we are fringe (negative connotation), unable to reconcile faith and science, anti science, etc etc, that is a personal attack.
I have even had people denigrate me as a mother and a teacher of my children because I don’t believe in evolution. I UNDERSTAND evolution and I teach it to my children. I don’t agree that it is settled science or that it is the best explaination for the evidence.

People have different views than you. I don’t think you are a bad person or stupid for teaching your children (if you have any) about evolution. I do not think it is child abuse.

I would appreciate the same respect.

One question that I have, why is the issue of evolution so PERSONAL to people? Why are you sad for Jim Robinson (although I don’t think he is YEC). Why is there a need to control what others think on this issue?

"FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site. Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you. "

Thank you for your stand. It's a honor to be allowed to be a member here.

I just read a book last night about Columbine, and while the writer sort of glazed over the fact that what drove Eric Harris was his personal belief in Natural Selection, I was amazed to read even that!!

I mean, for years and years people have been trying to figure out what drove Harris and Klebold and right there in Eric Harris' journal was the answer. He believed in Natural Selection, he believed that he had a duty to murder those who were not as smart as he deemed himself to be.
Harris and Klebold were not bullied at school, they were the bullies. Both had long histories of harassing and hurting anyone they saw as inferior.

Unchecked Darwinsim brought us Columbine.

A website is like your house. It's yours, no question.

Not exactly. It is more of a glass house, with the resulting damage occasionally, from folk that fling bricks and crap. Your image of a house is not the same as a home. FreeRepublic is all of the above. It is an open debate that goes on every day. I am a WASP Protestant heterosexual male, and I like to post pics of awesome girls. I have had my hand slapped for some of them.

Nobody is really invited by FR. It is open to anybody that wishes to sign on. We have our share of trolls and "missionaries". But, to put it bluntly again, Jim Robinson can say whatever he likes about what is happening on his front porch! He has stated his opinion. You placed yours into the mix. Many may be offended, but the door is always open to leave...

Knock It Off, Free Republic!

... I guess I’m going to take a timeout from Free Republic. Hopefully the Freepers will be acting more sensibly when I return. ’Bye, see you guys next year.

pissant is still posting today because, though he doesn't like all that is here, there is enough to let him shut up and grit his teeth! Glad to have differing opinions, but don't think you'll make it with the attitude you've taken on this thread! YMMV!
