I am sure this was completely staged Agreed. What that tells us is that Conan & Co. knew what they were doing, which was to give Sarah Palin a platform from which to illustrate how she has been treated by the media. Shatner's "quotes" from her book were typical of what the media does to Palin on a regular basis. By having her do the same thing to Shatner's book, she shows everybody what a stupid trick it is. Somebody on that show likes Palin. I suspect it might be Conan himself. |
It was a brilliant bit of a response from her: not only did she expose the trick for what it is, she showed she could take a joke and give as well as she can take all the while she made her point.
She’s very good with smaller nuances as well. For example, she refers to Shatner first as ‘Bill’ and then as ‘Mr. Shatner’ in a single sentence. That is, she’s on the same level as a beloved star, but also respectful of him as an elder as well.
I sure hope so. It might also help that taking the trashy leftist route to ratings is a dismal failure - for Leno too - and maybe even NBC will wisen up and start trying to appeal to the other *60%* of the population.

I’d say Conan wants her on his show regularly. He is a tight ratings race with Letterman, and a few appearances by Palin would see him move ahead, perhaps permanently.

We’ve got a winnah! Conan is no idiot. Neither is Palin. But Zero is.
