Coca-Cola Warns Green Taxes Could Cut Its Profits By 50%
Coca-Cola and Unilever have warned that their profits could halve over the next decade unless they reduce their emissions, as business leaders in Copenhagen called for a global fixed price on carbon dioxide.

The two companies acknowledged that green taxes and regulation would cause profits to fall 47pc by 2018 in the consumer goods sector if no effective action was taken.
Unilever and Coca-Cola both announced that they would reduce the carbon footprint of their supply chains at the Copenhagen Business Day, a conference running in parallel to the political summit.
However, the presence of Paul Polman, chief executive of Unilever, was overshadowed by Greenpeace's allegation that the company may have been buying palm oil from a supplier engaging in deforestation.
"The Greenpeace claims are of a nature that we can't ignore. Unilever is committed to sustainable sourcing. Therefore, we have notified [our supplier] that we have no choice but to suspend our future purchasing of palm oil," said Marc Engel, Unilever's chief procurement officer.

They’re surprised?
I thought that was what this admin is all about? Ruining free market enterprise.
Gee, are their really still peoples out there just finding this out?
Obama’s War On Profit...bump
Yeah, just wait until the EPA realizes that that frothy stuff at the top of your beer glass is chock full of CO2. Flat soda is bad enough, but flat beer...
Obammy can take over Coke and use Wall Street executives to make cola!
Coca Cola already lost 100% of its profits in this house, and won’t see even one cent until they remove high fructose corn syrup from their products.
Uh....isn’t CocaCola on the list of enviro wacko sheeple that bought into the “Climate Change” scam/hoax? If that isn’t a perfect example of sublime irony (and sublime stupidity)...I don’t know what is.
It used to.
Real sugar (it's grass juice, what could be more natural?)
Coke, you suck, and you know why.
You can always stock up in the spring:
“Coca-Cola usually rolls out limited-edition Kosher for Passover Coke, also made with real sugar since observant Jews cannot have corn products, hence no HFCS. Many non-Jews celebrate the product as well, believing the sugar version is superior (whether for taste or health reasons).”
And coke is NOT worth what it is presently priced at --- and their cute little manuveur of having tiny little 2-swallow cans in 6-packs for almost FOUR BUCKS was a really INSULTING thing to do.
Who do they think they are? WHAT do they believe they are selling? While the USA's financial system went KeR-plunKK, Coke doubled the prices of its products.
That was disgusting.
Reynold's Wrap pulled similar nonsense -- a year ago in the fall, one lousy roll of tin foil became almost FIVE DOLLARS.
That's nuts.
We have since started using generic Wax Paper whenever we can, and have a set of plastic containers for everything else. Wax paper is a bit strange, but not too many generations ago, that's all there was, and it'll work again, just fine.
Seriously, many of America's corporations lost ALL credibility with us during Fall/2008. As a consequence, we purchase almost NO brand name products whatsoever. They really irritated me. LONG TERM.
Surely some smart MBA at Coke has thought of this - they are sequestering CO2 in our stomachs, so should in fact be selling carbon credits. They’ll make billions!
All food products have become ridiculously expensive. I’ve been going as John Galt as possible during the past year- mostly just spending money on food, and wow, have things gotten expensive!
I wait for Coke to go on sale- 3 or 4 bucks for a 12 pack, and then i’ll pick up two or three of them. I drink a lot less of it than I used to, but I have always had a weakness for “pop”.
I’ll also drink Sunkist (Coke’s orange flavored soda)
Last summer I purchased a small bottle of exorbitantly overpriced coke and I was just shocked with the first swallow...... because it tasted just disgusting.
It's similar to what people say about cigarettes, that they crave them, but can't stand the smell, don't like the taste, but the CRAVING remains anyway.
I was about 7 months without so much as a sip of Coca Cola before I bought that one bottle. I have NO idea why I still have a craving for it, because it no longer tastes any good, not at all.
Grandma said that back in the day they used flat beer as a hair conditioner. I also remember a shampoo/conditioner called “Body on Tap.” LOL!
