I don’t understand why a behavioral choice deserves special recognition. Can we have the first openly rye-toast-enthusiast mayor, too?

You may have noticed that homosexuality is a bit more controversial than rye toast-eating. Hence the newspaper report. Do you understand now?

They’re both behavioral choices. We don’t need special honors for a practicing homosexual anymore than we need special honors for someone who likes rye toast. Hence, they shouldn’t have special laws or special insurance coverage because of their lifestyle choice, either. But stories like this pretend this is some sort of sign of progress in the human race.

Perhaps you misunderstood my original post?
