old information but bears repeating:

U.S. DEPT. OF ENERGY 12/12/2008

"Energy Efficient and Renewable Energy Fuel Cells Technology Program Hydrogen Production

High-Temperature Water Splitting High-temperature water splitting (a "thermochemical" process) is a long-term technology in the early stages of development.

How Does It Work?... The high-temperature heat needed can be supplied by next-generation nuclear reactors under development (up to about 1000°C).. High-Temperature Water Splitting Using Nuclear Energy

Why Is This Technology Being Considered for the Hydrogen Economy?...

Develop next-generation nuclear reactor technology to supply the high temperatures needed for this process.

The US Navy has been operating nuclear reactors *at sea* for decades. My city has had three nuclear reactors in our bay, probably more with the subs.

They are safe. France operates so many they actually export power.

Safety is not defined by the film “The China Syndrome”.

The greenies have been very effective at needlessly demonzing nuclear power, and we are paying a terrible price today because of it.

Waste will be a temporary problem, eventually we will move on to fusion reactors, waste someday we will be able to dispose of, perhaps launch it into space. Throw it into Jupiter, he won’t mind. LOL

"Things like three mile island keeps me on edge.

Why? TMI proved the US LWR design is safe. It proved that humans operating the plant could completely screw up and the defense in depth safty systems work intended.

Safety isn’t the issue whit me it’s the waste nothing be done with it at some place in time it will reach water tables.

Nuclear energy proves the point that the left is not about “clean” energy production,

its goal is NO energy production.

Just wait until one of their “alternate, renewable” energy sources actually becomes viable, and you’ll see them coming out of the woodwork to get it banned.

Read up on Breeder Reactors. If not for Jimmah Cahtah, waste wouldn't have been much of a problem either.

That is just not the case. A permanent solution was in the works for years and the Democrats have been playing politics with the issue for years and Obama just killed it again (Yucca Mnt), this time maybe for good. This entire project was funded by the nuclear power producers and you through your electrity bill. Water table had nothing to do with it, the next time somebody tells you that tell them it's BS because it's a crock. Brought to you by the same morons that are tauting AGW.
