As a white male, I’m quite comfortable with Christ being dark-skinned. I think the only people who have a problem with it are those who have ingrained racial biases.
Go to most black Baptist churches, and Christ is there in all of his blackness.
It’s all about interpretation.
I dont mean to be argumentative but.....this guy is a Jew. Ive had dinner with him....he’s not black, he’s not at all dark skinned... his family is just as fair skinned as him. Whats your point?

This is beyond silly. Jesus was described as “dark and swarthy”....and from the Middle East. This is ridiculous.

OK. So? I’m not sure what we’re talking about here.
Netanyahu is what we’d likey call “indoorsy”. He’s a politician and ex-professor. Christ was a carpenter and lived in the sunlight his entire life. It is logical to assume he’d be significantly darker than a Jewish politican that doesn’t spend much time in the sun.
In either case, it isn’t as if I posted a picture of Kunta Kinte as an example of what Christ might’ve looked like, so I’m not sure what the dispute is here.

You make an excellent point about the man, Son of God, Jesus, who was born a Jew.
It makes me wonder, when did this “femininization” of Jesus start? Does this correlate to the femininization of western culture?
It makes me wonder if a more honest portrayal of the Son of God could reinvigorate the church.

Perhaps I’m mistaken (apology if I am) but I thought you were under the impression that Jesus (a Jew) must have been dark skinned. Doesn’t matter really...don’t care what flavor he was actually.

I think it could reinvigorate male involvement in the church. Christianity (with the exception of Mark Driscoll and some Calvinist circles), has a significant problem attracting men 18-35 — because, in most respects, main-line Christianity has become a religion of 40-year-old women. Christian “pop” music is largely boy-band-like love songs to Jesus, rather than “Onward Christian Soldiers”-type stuff.
Mark Driscoll has done some good work in spreading the Word to underserved male populations — but he looks more like a mixed-martial artist than a pastor, and he’s offended some with frank talk about sexuality.
The fact is, men have a problem respecting (or worshipping) someone they could knock down with a single blow. Most visual depictions of Christ show a meek little guy that leaves men 18-35 saying, “Come on! — He looks like the vegeterian stoner loser down the street!” I can’t worship I guy I could whip up on.
The fact is, Christ didn’t look like that. Christ wasn’t a Buddhist monk who took yoga classes and ate salads every meal. The men of 2000 years ago wouldn’t have followed Him if he were a hippy in a dress.
This was a guy’s guy, a carpenter, a fisherman. His hands were rough, his clothes likely dirty, his face unshaven. He was likely tanned and leathery, scarred from working with his hands. Muscular. He must’ve scared the money changers to death as He was enraged and throwing tables around.
