The nativity has caused heated reactions in the rich northern town, where resentment toward foreigners has spread as the number of immigrants, particularly from north Africa and eastern Europe, continues to rise. So they (for the lack of a better term) whitewash the fact Jesus was from the Middle East?

Actually, this is a very popular theory concerning Christ. Unless Mary and Joseph were from European ancestors, the likelihood of Christ being white is very low.
As a student of history, I don’t know that Christ’s race was ever brought up in the Bible or elsewhere. I welcome any data to the contrary.

This is beyond silly. Jesus was described as “dark and swarthy”....and from the Middle East. This is ridiculous.
