STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Organizers of a proposed charter school named after the president have rescinded the honor after the Obama Administration informed them of a long-standing White House policy disallowing the use of the president's name while he is in office.
The group designing the Barack Obama Community Charter School also learned a state law prohibits naming institutions for a living person without his or her permission. The new name for the proposed K-8 is the Staten Island Community Charter School.
One of the organizers, Lorna Harris of Silver Lake, said committee members are disappointed about having to change the name.
"We chose the name because the president's values and the foundational values of our school are so closely aligned," she said. "We also chose the name because of the inspiration of the president's life story."
Still, Harris said the culture at the school will be just as enriching and inspirational as originally planned.
Name it after his father then.
There are already schools named after Obama, in Chicago I think
They may be glad they didn’t in a couple of years....
Why would they name a Charter School after Obama? he’s against them.
They could just name it Messiah of the Universe School. Or His Eloquence the King of the Cosmos School. Everyone would know who it refers to. They don’t need no silly old Obama name. Let’s call a spade a spade: High Potentate and King of the Job-Saving Grifters Special Humdinger Charter School.
If Obama is out name it after Castro.

He’s only against charter schools not named for hisself. There’s charter schools and then there’s charter schools.
They should have went with the Staten Island Community Organizer Charter School... Then it would be kinda like naming it after him
They can name it “The Mmmm, Mmmmm, Mmmmm Charter School”

If that's the case then why does it have to be a charter school when it can just be a regular standard public school of indoctrination?
Is that a labor union-run or ACORN run school?
Barry Soeroro School might work
They can name it after his nephew, Fidel Castro Odinga.
Name it after Aunt Esther.
