Even so your suggestion reminded me of an original Star Trek episode whereby the miners inadvertently ran into the Horta. Remember that one?

Of course only a Capt Kirk could've solved that flap. Unfortunately we've few --if any-- Captain Kirks in or out of Hollyweird writing, these days.
