Tea Party popularity should lead to dominance of the Republican Party

For the first time, the Democratic Party now trails behind the Tea Party movement -- 45 percent view the Democrats unfavorably while only 35 percent view it favorably according to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll. And fans of the Tea Party movement far outnumber those who support the Republican Party -- 28 percent view the Republican Party positively, and 43 percent see it in a negative light. Meanwhile, the Tea Party movement is earning a 41-23 percent score.

This has led to reports that internal conflict has led to problems in the overall movement. One CNN story suggests that "some Tea Partiers have voiced anger and concern over whether the powerful groups are 'astroturfing'' what is supposed to be a grass-roots coalition -- the idea that the movement is being organized by old-fashioned GOP bigwigs to promote their agenda."

"For the Tea Party to avoid getting coopted by the Republican Party, it merely needs to coopt the Republican Party itself."

We need to take them over, not let the party take over the movement

The GOP could correct this problem by welcoming conservatives and I don’t mean just as a means of gaining power.

People only need to look to NY-23 and Scozzyfava to see that the Tea party is not the one being co-opted. If anything, it will be the Republican party that is moved. I have no problem with it being merged into the Republican party as long as the principles that were represented in the tea party movement are the same principles shared by the heads of the Republican party. That is the whole problem to begin with. Our choice is between Socialism and Socialism light. Conservatives were not being given a real choice.

“We suck less” is not a good campaign slogan or strategy.

That clown, Steele, seems to be learning which side of the bread carries the butter. Maybe we can find an articulate Tea Party lad or lass to take Steel's place.

Reagan would say I hope it leads to not the dominance of the Republican Party but a rebirth of the Republican Party. Dominance would then follow naturally.

That’s going to happen if we in the Tea Party let the RINOs bull their way in.

Be vigilant.

Having the GOP absorb the “Tea Party” is akin to a leper colony inviting a perfectly healthy person to vacation at their “island”. The GOP is desperately seeking credibility as they continually fumble the ball just short of the goal line, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
The GOP has sold their souls to the liberals in the popularity contest during the Clinton presidency and is now officially broken beyond repair (refer to Bush’s blunders and Juan McCain’s laughable nomination in 2008).
I like the idea of another political party; there’s 308 million folks in the US now and it only makes sense to have another party to represent the constitutional conservatives; we like one another because of our common love for our country. The GOP should have stuck to it’s proven philisophical roots when it had the chance; now they’re solely reacting to the liberals moves.

I created it last night and would love to see it used at a Tea Party Rally. I think it sums up the feelings we Tea Party folks have concerning the present GOP and DNC leadership.

The Republicans can show they mean business by starting discussions NOW on closing entire government departments, not “downsizing” or “curbing growth”, but eliminating them completely.

The Department of Education and PBS would be excellent starting points.

Like you, Obama, Pelosi, and George Soros would love to see the formation of a Tea Party. They know that would insure there power for years to come. Are you really that dumb, or is Howard Dean paying you to post garbage like that here in the hope of duping conservatives.
