"It looks like the movie is being well received, at least from the technical level."

Yea, received by the shills.
I'll wait to hear what others, like myself, have to say.

"My wife wants to see the newClooney movie, “Up in the Air” which is only 110 min and has been reviewed pretty high.(Not that seeing Clooney in anything is plus for me, but at least he isn't Hugh Grant.)"

Hugh or no Hugh, Looney's out for us. Period. That means anything Loony ever.
That is how this home rewards Hollyweird's flakes.

"The new Sherlock movie might be worthwhile too but she hasn't pushed to see that one yet."

Big fans of Arthur Conan Doyle; however, we spoke of this film after seeing the trailers. My bride & I both agreed the Basil Rathbone - Nigel Bruce films would be awfully hard to top.

Moreover knowing Hollyweird, as we do?
We were unanimous guessing the Hollyweird flakes will butcher the characters Holmes, Watson, Mrs Hudson etc to a point where those who remember the novels and classic B&W films will be left wondering WTF we just viewed & feeling pick pocketed. Just as we have for 9 of every 10 motion pictures we've seen over the past umpteen years. It's a 'fool me once', thing.

Besides that a new Sherlock Holmes, even if excellent, is just as easily viewed on our home entertainment system as opposed to a visual extravaganza such as what Avatar's being promoted.

I wonder if there are plans for Avitar to be shown in Imax theaters? I would think that would be an awesome experience if they would.

The Sherlock Holmes movie could be pretty good with Robert Downey, Jr., but as you said, there is no need to catch it at a theater unless the wife says otherwise. lol
