Understanding ClimateGate's Hidden Decline

In fact, the decline Jones so urgently sought to hide was not one of measured temperatures at all, but rather figures infinitely more important to climate alarmists -- those determined by proxy reconstructions. As this scandal has attracted new readers to the subject, I ask climate-savvy readers to indulge me while I briefly explain climate proxies, as they are an essential ingredient of this contemptible conspiracy.

Truth be told, even reasonably reliable instrumental readings are a relatively modern convenience, limiting CRU’s global measured temperature database to a start date somewhere in the mid-19th century. That’s why global temperature charts based on actual readings typically use a base year of 1850, or somewhere thereabout.

And yet, most historical temperature charts, including the one Al Gore preached before in An Inconvenient Truth, go way back to 1000 AD. That’s where proxies come in."

Now this is a long read, full of charts and graphs but it is understandable and the gist of it is the CRU crew and the rest of the Global Warming Gang had a whole slew of tricks to distort the climatic record both modern and ancient. A whole bag of tricks was used in the now-infamous "Hockey Stick graph" to erase the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age and to pencil in an amazing uptick in temperatures in the twentieth century. You've already heard about the vast areas of Russian data that were simply ignored, but you may not have heard that fully 75% of the roughly 1200+ U.S. temperature monitoring stations are utterly compromised by their urban locations.

The gist of it is: there's no reason that conservative politicians should not challenge the entire global warming claim outright, let alone debate whether or not CO2 and humanity is responsible for any of it at all. Current temperatures are less than those at the height of the Medieval Warm Period.

There is no reason even the most basic arguments of the warmists should be conceded in debate. There is no evidence of Global Warming bandied about that is not hopelessly compromised and corrupted.

Ladies and Gentlemen; there is no Global Warming, period. The past twenty years of hysteria mongering are built on a vast fraud.

Not only are the NOAA stations compromised by being in urban locations, they are often sited in REALLY stupid locations ----

My favorite: the idiots installed an incandescent light bulb inside the temperature shelter - I guess so they could read the thermometer in the dark . . .

I wonder if they got spikes in the readings when somebody forgot and left the bulb on . . . .

A very high profile person who has professed a strong connection with Global Warming/World Environment movement has been conspiciously missing from the recent fanfare from algore and has not been seen nor heard around Hoaxenhagen. Guess who it is? Mikhail Gorbachev.

Guess the old boy must be too high a profile that the warmers prefer to play down just like ClimateGate.
